The Inventor’s Resource Center would like to welcome... Catherine Kirik Cathie’s career has spanned 37 years in intellectual property protection. She joined the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in 1988 in the Office of Initial Patent Examination. She was responsible for reviewing new patent applications for compliance to filing requirements. In 1999, she became part of the newly created Office of Independent Inventor Programs whose focus was to increase the USPTO presence and education to the inventor community. She was part of the team that created the Inventors Resource Page, On-Line Chats, a direct email portal for inventors, the bi-monthly newsletter, InventorsEye, and established a complaint process for inventors as directed by the American Inventors Protection Act (AIPA). She has received numerous achievement awards, including the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal for superior Federal service, an Exceptional Career Achievement award and a Distinguished Career Achievement award. Before joining the USPTO, Cathie, worked for the U. S. Copyright Office at the Library of Congress for ten years providing assistance to the public in matters of litigation.
