Touch screen training
Touch Trainer Autism & Special Education
Touch Trainer is a simple cause and effect app designed for an individual just learning about touch
screen technology. Touch Trainer plays music and shows a simple animation whenever a button is
tapped. The button gets progressively smaller as the app moves through the levels to easily teach
individuals how to use a touch screen. In the settings menu the caregiver can decide if the app will
"react" to any touch or if it only recognizes distinct taps.
Cause and Effect
Swirlcity
Swirlicity is a fun particle drawing, swirling and twirling app based on the physics of fluid dynamics.
It doesn't just let you draw and then swirl particles - it also has attract and repel modes, automatic
wind toggle, and even lets you turn any image of yours into particles and manipulate that! All this is
done to beautiful, calming ambient background music.

This app has been designed to help children develop their understanding and selection of
communication symbols showing emotions and feelings by relating them to bright clear animations
and fun sounds. This app offers both single and two switch access and can be used with all current
iPad switch interfaces.
Switch Kids
Switch Kids teaches simple cause and effect. While the program is intended for switch users, it can
also be used just by touching the screen. You can use up to four external switches for input, to
allow full use of the program to people who cannot easily touch the screen because of physical
disabilities. The numbers 1 through 4 on a Bluetooth keyboard will also control the 4 actions.

vocabulary row of 4 items can be easily accessed from every page. Can be accessed with RJ
Cooper/Therapy Box Switch Interface or the Attainment Switch App on an iPhone or second iPad.
My Talk Tools Mobile
MyTalk Workspace needs to be purchased to allow you to design your own pages, including
access to an Image Library, Web Authoring and collaboration tools. Video modelling can be ceated
using the camera in the iPad2. Visual and auditory single switch scanning can be accessed with
RJ Cooper/Therapy Box Switch Interface or Blue2 Switch Interface.
PicBoard
Can design communication boards with 1 to 20 cells. Easy to use and includes a how to video.
This is the non-speaking version of TalkBoard. Boards can be printed and easily shared with

SayHi! AAC
Simple AAC App. User can create multiple pages which each link off a central menu. 9 cells can
be displayed on each page. Each cell can display text, a picture and have recorded speech. Cells
can also be easily setup to play an audio file installed on the iPad. The App can be installed on
three devices on the same Wi-Fi network making it 2 switch visual scanning.
Sounding Board
Sounding Board is an App from AbleNet that allows you to create communication displays from 1
to 9 message locations using AbleNet symbols or your own photos. It can link displays to other
displays; allows auditory scanning in addition to single and dual switch scanning and record
messages of virtually any length for a symbol/photo. 1 and 2 switch visual and auditory scanning
can be accessed with RJ Cooper/Therapy Box Switch Interface or Blue2 Switch Interface.
Speak For Yourself – LAT Kids
Simple AAC App which allows you to create a single (scrolling) page with a number of icons.
Buttons can be created using the 23 existing clip art style icons or by taking a photograph with a

TalkBoard
Can design any communication board from 1 to 20 cells. Easy to use and comes with an easy how

AAC Evaluation Genie
AAC Evaluation Genie is an informal diagnostic tool that is intended to assist speech-language
pathologists and others in identifying skill areas that relate specifically to the language
representation methods commonly found on augmentative communication systems. The purpose
is for selecting an AAC device for ongoing evaluation or trial.
TapSpeak Choice (TapSpeak Button; TapSpeak Sequence)
Children and adults with any disability that impairs their ability to communicate can make use of
TapSpeak Choice. TapSpeak Button modernizes the idea of a mechanical switch that records
and plays messages. It is especially useful for teaching cause and effect relationships, while
TapSpeak Sequence is used instead of sequential message switches to record messages.
iTalker
With iTalker you can record and play back many audio files and sort them into playlists. Once you
have selected or created a playlist, press the red buzzer to list them step by step.
Speech Buttons Free
This is a free version of Speech Buttons, a basic AAC and choice board app. Non-verbal kids can
tap a button and the iPad will speak the button text aloud in either a boy's or girl's voice. This free
version includes 10 screen choices: yes-no, A-B-C, 1-2-3-4-5, Happy-Mad-Sad, Day-Night,
bullying, weather, colors, fruits, letter sounds.
RIDBC Auslan Tutor (Key Signs)
Learn how to communicate 150 common Auslan signs with a hand shape, photo and
demonstration video. The Lite version is free but the full version included a greatly expanded
vocabulary.
PicWords
PicWords is a simple AAC app, also known as a Picture Exchange Communication System with a
goal to convey needs and wants. The big and easy to touch buttons were developed for people
with physical disabilities and the images displayed are completely determined by the user. The
audio can be recorded by someone whose voice is easily recognized by the user.
PECS Phase III
A tool that allows you to implement the teaching of Phase III of PECS™ and offers a novel
approach for learners to practice discrimination techniques and strategies. The app, designed to
look just like a PECS™ communication book permits a teacher to practice picture discrimination

Grace is a non-speaking, simple picture exchange system developed for people to communicate

Tobii Sono Flex is an easy to use AAC vocabulary app that turns symbols into clear speech. It

Speak For Yourself
Individuals learn to use their communication device with the same principles they use to play an
instrument or type on a keyboard. Speak for Yourself has the capability to begin with one word, but
