This letter is to inform you that based on your successful performance last summer; you are invited to be a part of the 2015 G.V.R.D. Aquatics Team. As you know, our staff is an elite group of professionals who undergo extreme physical and mental training throughout their summer here at Cunningham Pool and the Vallejo Plunge. Last summer we expanded our winning streak and took 1st place for the 5th time in 10 years in the NorCal Guard games and we’re looking to make it a four-peat this year! This summer we have some exciting new X-Games to roll out and some social events that you are not going to want to miss! Also, the wages listed on the letter of intent page should all be going up on January 1, 2016 and hopefully starting lifeguard wages will go up by $1.00 starting July 1st! Below you will find the items necessary for working this upcoming spring and summer season. Please review them carefully, print out, fill out, and mail/email or drop them in my box no later than April 20th, 6pm. If you plan on returning to work this year, please fill out the Letter of Intent with all the pertinent information. Be sure to let us know your plans for the springtime as well as summer. Identify the position(s) for which you would consider applying. Please return this form as soon as possible, but absolutely no later than April 20th. If we receive your packet after the deadline, you will have to re-interview for any position and your position will not be saved. If you do not plan on working for GVRD this summer, fill out the “Notification of not returning” or send me an email stating as such. Because of the time required for interviews, we pre-screen anyone applying for a Sr. Staff spot and only interview those most qualified. 1. The second form, Individual Staff Contract, is to be completed with all your time off for the summer. Please complete this form in its entirety. Note the staff meetings listed on the first page and put them on a personal calendar so you and your family know the mandatory training dates. The meetings are mandatory and must be attended if you plan on working. Notify your parents so they don’t schedule anything on those dates. • IMPORTANT NOTE: Every day of Semana Giganissimo is MANDATORY except for the recert days. We take our training very seriously, so your attendance is critical for your understanding of pool operations and emergency procedures. Please initial that form and return it. 2. Fill out the Summer Preferences form and log on to whentowork.com by May 8th and go to “the time I prefer to work” to fill in all the times you requested on your “Blue Sheet.” The Blue Sheet will be the master copy if there is a discrepancy online. 3. The clothing order sheet is a simple way to ensure you have the clothing you need prior to the summer starting. Any orders we receive after April 20th may not be filled until after the start of summer. We will continue to offer our new clothing line with some awesome new additions, like our official Aquatics Patch, and the Lifeguard Republic, so be sure to get some of the new gear! I understand that the GVRD Aquatic Staff is a seasonal position, and the busiest time of the season is from June to August. For this reason, I will be available to work during this period, except for the dates listed on my blue sheet. § Time off should be limited. The summer season is only 8 weeks long and extensive vacation and leave schedules will limit your chances of being rehired for the summer. • It is at the discretion of the Aquatics Supervisor to accept or decline an Individual Staff Contract based on the amount of vacation requested. § Once your Individual Contract is accepted, all scheduling will be done on an availability basis. The more vacation and leave time requested the lower priority you will receive when being scheduled for hours. Employees will be allowed excused time off for family emergencies (life-threatening condition or death) with written note and medical conditions / emergencies with doctor’s note, or circumstances deemed reasonable by the Aquatics Supervisor. Any time off including whole days, half days, or shift substitutions, taken outside of the approved blue sheet will result in a breach of contract. A breach of contract may result in termination of duties at the end of the season. I affirm to my knowledge I am not suffering from any health-related illness that would prevent me from executing the duties as described to me in the hiring. I also affirm that I do not suffer from any illnesses or physical conditions other than those, which I have informed you of and provided you with written approval from my physician to perform the duties required.
