The Iskratel Railways Information &
Notifications Solution (RINS) is designed to
fulfil the rail operators’ requirements. It enables
efficient content management, distribution
and reproduction of audio and video streams
with high reliability and availability, giving
passengers and staff comfortable use and an
overview of the whole situation.
User information is given to passengers
through various voice-announcement systems
and digital signage via displays.
Depending on the need audio and video
notifications are available - often to provide
information about timetable changes or for
employee safety. These may include:
• general travel information (exact time,
departures and arrivals, expected delays,
gate numbers, etc.),
• safety information for cases of emergency
• advertisements
• service messages for the staff and railway
users.
INTEGRATION INTO A SINGLE
SOLUTION
Iskratel RINS is able to distribute any type of
information to any location; providing one
solution for audio and video media.
It is a single integrated solution for digital
signage, video and audio information,
announcements and emergency calls.
It is scalable and is facilitated by a number of
servers which are connected to the passengerrelevant sites by a TCP/IP network and SIP
controlled VoIP communication.
The solution is based on the Iskratel SI3000
platform, enhanced with OTC (Operational
and
Technological
Communications)
functionalities and various products for railway
information and notification.

Modular design of the solution makes it flexible
and easily configured to fit all the present and
future needs of the railway operator.
SOLUTION DETAILS
Audio and Video content is served from
Iskratel’s RINS server and managed by the RINS
dispatcher.
The RINS server pulls actual information
from the central server and generates audio
announcements from pre-recorded fragments
and video content (arrival/departure time
table). These are presented on dedicated
screens at railway stations with the ability to
record all audio announcements centrally.
With carefully chosen physical
elements, a dedicated application and
a modular structure, the Iskratel RINS
solution represents a single solution
for audio and video notifications and
replaces many separated systems. It
is reliable, cost effective and easy to
operate, maintain and troubleshoot.
Both audio and video content is generated
based on time-table scenarios, also taking the
open/closed state of control contacts for train
crossing including priority into account.
The solution generates and manages various
items including general travel information,
safety information, service messages and
advertisements.
It automatically generates audio and video
information based on time-schedule or
triggered inputs and enables a full overview of
the on-going events.
RINS HIGHLIGHTS
It is a stand-alone solution with high
availability and a fully redundant central
server. It represents powerful event handling
including live notifications, messages, prerecorded alarm and messages system.
Fully digital and intelligent client controllers
can also control alarms, priorities and cover
the diagnostics of the full audio paths. It
also ensures automatic volume adjustment
according to the background environmental
noise.
Each zone is controlled with its own intelligent
client and modular amplifiers. This means
that there is a virtually unlimited number of
zones and the possibility of reproducing the
dedicated audio information simultaneously
in each zone. Since video information is
distributed through IP networks, by using
video-splitters/extenders it can reach multiple
displays up to several hundred meters away.
