ISPS develops independent learners
who strive for academic excellence,
pursue their unique potential and meet
challenges with confidence and integrity
as they prepare for global citizenship.
A Shared Vision
A collaborative community creating
a vibrant environment that enriches
character, while inspiring a passion for
learning and personal excellence.
Students’ Honor Code
On my honor, I pledge my academic
integrity, honesty, tolerance, and respect to the ISPS community, and I will
encourage others to do the same. As a
member of this community, I will not lie,
cheat, steal, or treat others in a manner
that I would not wish to be treated.

Dear Parents and Students,
A warm thank you to the many families who
joined us last Saturday for the school Walk-a
-thon that was held on Columbus Circle. All
of the funds raised from the walkathon support the Cyril Ross Nursery and the Christ
Child Convalescent Home. Your participation makes a difference!
As we move ahead in implementing the IB
Middle Years Program at ISPS, I would like to
thank all members of our school and community. Implementing our vision to develop
independent learners who strive for academic excellence, pursue their unique potential, and meet challenges with confidence
and integrity as they prepare for global citizenship can only happen in a supportive context that values the educational attributes
that are characteristic of the IB learner. In
particular I have witnessed the balanced,
reflective, and principled ways that our staff
and community members address challenges
and issues. I have also had the privilege of

thinking skills) and the acquisition of

our community when I leave you in June.
Elementary students, parents, and teachers
participated in student led conferences today. Students presented portfolios and discussed their learning goals. Teachers are
always available to meet with parents by
appointment.
Grade 8 students return today from the Tobago field trip. The trip affords students the
opportunity to study issues of sustainability
through the examination of two reef systems. This issue is also explored through the
lens of economics and industry within the
context of agricultural industries on the island of Tobago. Reports from the field this
morning indicate that everyone has enjoyed
the experience. Students are expected to
return to ISPS this afternoon on schedule.
I keep any found items such as iPhones, laptops, and cameras under lock and key. If you

NEWS & RESULTS
This was the second year that we have
hosted the walkathon in our neighborhood, and we feel it is a good opportunity for the community to come together for a common cause.
Overall we had a good turnout of staff,
parents, students and dogs.
As usual the walk began at 6:30 a.m. ,
and ended at approximately 9:00 a.m.

Sense of Time
Grade 7 Students
Explore T&T
History
The Grade 7 students investigated how
colonization and migration modified
Trinidad and Tobago history.
They presented the Sense of Time
Showcase in which they focused on
Trinidad and Tobago culture and
history. This work integrated what
they learned in Individuals and
Societies, Language and Literature,
Dance, Art, Music and Trinidad and
Tobago History.
The students presented two shows on
March 12 and 13. The March 12 show
also included a Trinidad and Tobago
foods potluck afterwards.
Additionally, students had boards on
display which demonstrated how each
aspect of Trinidad and Tobago culture
has been affected by colonization and
migration.

The MUN trip was amazing. It not only taught us how the UN works or how to write resolutions but it also showed us that to
experience something to the fullest extent possible - we have to get out of our comfort zone.
MELISA YETKIN
”
“
I had a fantastic experience with MUN. I believe I learnt a great deal about how actual meetings proceed in the UN, as countries
attempt to create resolutions for real problems. It showed me the immense frustration you can get with other several strongheaded people who have contrasting ideas but I also experienced the satisfaction of passing a resolution to correct problems.
ABRAHAM LEWIS
”
“
With NHSMUN being my second conference, I was less nervous and more excited to participate in my committee and represent
my country, Qatar. My committee, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, debated the issue of poverty
reduction in sub-Saharan Africa, a topic which I am extremely passionate about. Though my committee had about 100 delegates, I
found the courage to get up and speak in front of everyone and discuss my ideas with other delegates, and eventually became a
signatory for the resolution that was passed. I had a very intellectually stimulating experience, and would recommend that those
who are interested in discussing and solving current world problems sign up to take part in MUN next year.
