Position Summary:
Teach For Pakistan seeks a Recruitment & Selection Coordinator who will report to the Manager, R&S.
He/she will be responsible for managing short-term and long-term strategies for Fellow Recruitment and
Selection, and ensuring that these are aligned with TFP’s vision for change. In order to meet Teach For
Pakistan’s goal to rapidly expand and achieve scale, the Coordinator will support the development and
execution of key functional areas. The Coordinator will be involved with all facets of the recruitment
process.
About Teach For Pakistan:
Teach For Pakistan is a leadership development Fellowship for outstanding graduates and young
professionals who commit two years to social change, transforming academic outcomes and life paths of
students in under-resourced schools. Upon completing their two-year commitment, Fellows graduate to
become Alumni, skilled and aware leaders of educational equity. In 2011, Teach For Pakistan inducted its
first cohort of 17 Fellows placing them in Karachi’s poorest classrooms. In 2014, we have 49 Alumni who
have completed the Fellowship, and 64 Fellows in classrooms across Karachi and Lahore. Teach For
Pakistan is an initiative of the Aman Foundation and a partner of the international Teach For All network.
About the Recruitment & Selection team:
The Recruitment & Selection team is responsible for all activities pertaining to the identification and
recruitment of program participants (Fellows) who have the potential to be highly effective teachers and
leaders. Meeting these objectives will require the team to create and maintain partnerships with various
local and international universities, colleges, firms, NGOs, media partners and schools to ensure smooth
operations of Fellow recruitment and selection
Specifically, the team is responsible for the following:
1) Establishing partnerships with leading graduate employers; graduate schools and scholarship granting
institutions to secure incentives for TFP Fellows;
2) On-ground recruitment of graduating students in the country’s top universities, including managing
TFP representatives at pre-selected universities;
3) On-ground recruitment of young professionals at leading firms and NGOs;
4) Developing and executing the marketing component of the recruitment campaign, in close
collaboration with the marketing and communications team;
5) Developing admissions, screening and selection procedures and tools; and assignment of TFP Fellows;
6) Developing and managing the execution of the matriculation process for selected Fellows.

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Support and execute an ambitious campaign to recruit talented, diverse individuals to join the
Fellowship. To do so, the Recruitment Coordinator is required to:








Attract, interview, and select a team of 4-8 Campus Ambassadors
Strategize for and lead the efforts at selected universities and corporates in a region
Create and manage the on-ground and virtual recruitment campaigns for different
stakeholders, including but not limited to key messages, marketing and media collateral
and information sessions
Cultivate, and influence top individuals to apply to and join Teach For Pakistan
Mobilize and invest outstanding Fellows and Alumni for recruitment efforts on campus
Maintain relationships with student leaders and key student stakeholders
Invest administrators, faculty members, career service representatives, advisors, and other
key stakeholders to help execute an effective recruitment campaign
Communicate effectively with diverse audiences to deliver a compelling vision tailored to
their motivations and interests
Manage the Selection and Matriculation processes to ensure that outstanding candidates join the
Fellowship. To do so, the Recruitment Coordinator is required to:


Manage the execution of the Selection process for the Fellowship
Manage a matriculation process for selected candidates to ensure high confirmation and
acceptance rates for the Fellowship
Support and execute campaigns to achieve ambitious goals through strategic planning and tight
execution. To do so, the Recruitment Coordinator is required to:





Analyze data constantly to find gaps in applications and think creatively about solutions to
problems and work effectively under pressure
Utilize data to ensure team is using rigorous logic in all decision-making to maintain high level of
integrity in our selection process
Structure and delegate projects to ensure timely completion by campus representatives
Manage extensive internal and external communications
o Write high-impact external communications (acceptance letter, etc.)
o Manage applicant communications to ensure high levels of professionalism throughout
admissions process
Leverage Teach For Pakistan's constituent relationship management system, Salesforce.com, to
manage constituent base and track campaign's progress
Work with teams across the organization to build the strength of our movement. To do so, the
Recruitment Coordinator is required to:




Support the selection and matriculation process by working with Fellows and Alumni to build
investment and clarity about their roles
Cultivate second year Fellows and Alumni for staff positions
Mobilize Fellows and colleagues from teams to help drive recruitment campaigns forward
Help generate adequate buzz about Teach For Pakistan amongst our target audience through a
variety of channels (media, materials and events)

Additional Responsibilities:

Actively participate and lead at the Teach For Pakistan’s Summer Institute as a full-time staff
member. The Summer Institute is a 6 week, full-time training program designed to give Fellows
the foundational knowledge, skills and mind-sets, they need to become highly effective teachers
in challenging circumstances
Education & Experience:









Bachelor’s degree required
Desire to work urgently in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, results-oriented culture
Ability to set goals and use data daily to guide actions
Proven ability to develop and leverage relationships
Exceptional communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Strong reasoning and strategic thinking skills
Willingness to travel and work some weekends and evenings
2-3 years professional experience
Skills and Knowledge:


Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English
Demonstrated proficiency in using data to drive decisions: analyzing numbers and trends
and critically thinking so as to use data to decide on next steps
Competencies and Abilities:





Excellent interpersonal, public-speaking and presentation skills : ability to effectively
interface with multiple audiences, internal teams and stakeholders while presenting
complex ideas clearly and in an engaging manner
Demonstrated self-starting abilities: able to be resourceful, take responsibility and find
effective solutions to problems
Data-driven and results oriented but with a ‘purpose-over-process’ approach to work
Ability to travel extensively (intra and inter-city) and adopt flexible timings (especially
during “cycle seasons”)
Strong time management skills and ability to remain flexible in order to accommodate
multiple projects simultaneously, with tight deadlines
