Position Summary:
In order to develop clearer understanding of our work amongst a broad base of stakeholders, Teach For
Pakistan is looking to hire a Director, Marketing. The Director is entrusted to develop and lead innovation
around the Teach For Pakistan brand and marketing strategies, and be a co-creator and executor of a number
of high-profile activity and communication.
The Director Marketing role is best suited for those who can create and execute and strategies, and create
design products such as newsletters, simple videos and social media products. The candidate should be able
to manage time and projects independently to get things done on short timelines.
About Teach For Pakistan:
Teach For Pakistan is a leadership development Fellowship for outstanding graduates and young
professionals who commit two years to social change, transforming academic outcomes and life paths of
students in under-resourced schools. Upon completing their two-year commitment, Fellows graduate to
become Alumni, skilled and aware leaders of educational equity. In 2011, Teach For Pakistan inducted its first
cohort of 17 Fellows placing them in Karachi’s poorest classrooms. In 2014, Teach For Pakistan has 49 Alumni
who have completed the Fellowship, and 65 Fellows in classrooms across Karachi and Lahore. Teach For
Pakistan is an initiative of the Aman Foundation and a partner of the international Teach For All network.
Responsibilities:
Develop a TFP Brand that speaks of innovation, leadership and education:



Strategize and execute on developing a new brand in line with the TFP Value Proposition. Based on its
findings:
o Develop standardized style resources to reflect the look and feel
o Conduct team step back on design/style elements; produce new style guide
o Develop marketing incentives for TFP donors
Develop multimedia products that bring to life the stories across our work for a variety of audiences
o Strategize to Identify key video/multi-media needs
o Create compelling new videos, such as:
 A second, recruitment video
 Introductory Theory of Change video
Own systems that regularly collect impact stories and statistics for fundraising and communications
o Develop and maintain bank of basic topline statistics appropriate for external audiences
o Build a story bank of stories, profiles, case studies, etc.
Strategize, plan and execute ways of getting the TFP message out:


Increased visibility in key global publications/outlets
o Cultivate relationships with reporters
o Secure major media stories and/or op-eds
Leverage major events to raise visibility and awareness

Support Recruitment & Selection, Participant & Alumni Impact teams with regard to
communications and design needs of their large events to ensure that all guests are engaged,
informed and inspired
Pilot Twitter initiative at conference
Make sure presenters are prepared and positioned as an effective thought leaders
Seek/create opportunities for our major supporters to get visibility for their support of TFP at
the events
Leverage media effectively at events
Strategize, Create and execute ways of getting the TFP message out online:







Research and develop a Social Media strategy
Regular, consistent and high quality online communications based on an essential
marketing/communication policies and protocol
Upgrade and execute quarterly e-newsletter, increasing readership and open rates:
o Expand mailing list with a focus on inducting potential donors and recruits
o Create a new interactive design to enhance readability
o Continual improvements to process, quality/diversity of articles, etc. (ongoing)
Plan/update TFP’s website
o Effectively leverage internal stakeholders to improve alignment across website
o Ensure quality project management to update website on time
o Develop sustainable website strategy
Increase and improve TFP presence online and through various digital channels
o Upgrade to create consistent growth in Facebook “Likes,”
o Consistent growth in the number of Twitter followers, growing through a refined Twitter
approach and improved strategy
o Build/launch other channels (Pinterest, Flickr, LinkedIn etc.) over time as we build capacity
o Increase in Klout score to measure increase in influence in social media.
Continuously build knowledge of best in class communication strategies in the sector
Develop and execute effectively on donor-specific communication plans
o Creation of new audience-specific introductory PPT decks and videos
Additional Responsibilities:



Support Recruitment & Selection cycles as a full time selector
Actively participate and lead at the Teach For Pakistan’s Summer Institute as a full-time staff member. The
Summer Institute is a 6 week, full-time training program designed to give Fellows the foundational
knowledge, skills and mind-sets, they need to become highly effective teachers in challenging
circumstances
Attend recruitment presentations, coffee chats, gatherings that help Teach For Pakistan connect
successfully to other stakeholders in the mission for education equity
Education and Experience:

A minimum of 6 years of work experience post a bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications
A strong can-do attitude and high levels of commitment which reflects in taking high responsibility and
initiative
Organized with the ability of setting deadlines and completing projects in short time lines
Ability to simplify and communicate complex concepts visually
Ability to produce results with tight resources
Demonstrated creativity in design and execution of deliverables and events
Self-starter, motivated and ability to manage projects independently on short turnaround time
Demonstrated eagerness to learn and grow
Experience with Photoshop, InDesign, and other editing software
Experience running social media campaigns preferred
