Glory of moonlight dreams, Over thy branches and lordly streams, Clad in thy blossoming trees, Mother, giver of ease Laughing low and sweet! Mother I kiss thy feet, Speaker sweet and low! Mother, to thee I bow. Who hath said thou art weak in thy lands When swords flash out in seventy million hands And seventy million voices roar Thy dreadful name from shore to shore? With many strengths who art mighty and stored, To thee I call Mother and Lord! Thou who saves, arise and save! To her I cry who ever her foe drove Back from plain and sea And shook herself free. Thou art wisdom, thou art law, Thou art heart, our soul, our breath Though art love divine, the awe In our hearts that conquers death. Thine the strength that nerves the arm, Thine the beauty, thine the charm. Every image made divine In our temples is but thine. Thou art Durga, Lady and Queen, With her hands that strike and her swords of sheen, Thou art Lakshmi lotus-throned, And the Muse a hundred-tone, Pure and perfect without peer, Mother lend thine ear, Rich with thy hurrying streams, Bright with thy orchard gleems, Dark of hue O candid-fair In thy soul, with jewelled hair And thy glorious smile divine, Loveliest of all earthly lands, Showering wealth from well-stored hands! Mother, mother mine! Mother sweet, I bow to thee, Mother great and free! “Great things are done more through courage than through wisdom”. The expansion and updating of knowledge makes all of us life-long students. Here are a few tips for studying more effectively. 1.Keep yourself fit both physically and temperamentally. • Get sufficient sleep. Most of us need about eight hours sleep. • Do vigorous exercise daily for an hour or more. • Take time daily to do something that you genuinely enjoy such as painting, working with tools, music, poetry etc. 2.Have a regular place for studying • Fix up a study table for yourself. Use a chair with a straight backrest. Only keep items which are being used on the table to avoid unnecessary overcrowding of table top. • For light reading, you could use another chair placed in a quiet place. 3.Work out a time-schedule and follow it. 4. Increase motivation by recalling your goals. • Set up goals for yourselves to drive your efforts • Remind yourselves continually to achieve your short term goals keeping the long term goals at the back of your mind Your learning will be inefficient if your goals are not clear “Words have power” ITM Global School, Gwalior How To Organize Your Time For Learning If you can learn to manage your time, you aquire lifelong managerial skill. There are four key points in time management. 1.Right Size of Time Unit: Work psychologists tell us that people get their best work done by working intensively for a reasonable period of time, then resting or changing something else to do something else. Shovelling sand might mean 15 minutes of work and then a pause. Managers might use 90 minute units in their schedules. For study 60 minutes seems to be a good unit. 2.Right Amount of Time: a. Recall your goals and abilities, and decide how much time you wish to assign to each activity. b. If you are a student, 24 hours of study a week is probably more than enough to achieve your academic goals. Increasing study time to 35 or 40 hours does not guarantee better results. In most cases, the opposite may happen c. The pay off in studying requires concentration and interest. 3.Right Distribution of Time Units: a. Spread out your subjects strategically. Generally, six single hours on consecutive days are better than six consecutive hours on the same day. b. Do assigned reading just before the class. 4.Right Sequence Order: a. Subjects like mathematics must be studied daily. Miss a point and you tend to lag behind b. Study tough demanding subjects when you are at your most alert stage in the day. “How unhappy is he who cannot forgive himself”. ITM Global School, Gwalior Student Services - Counselling and Guidance Our Counselling and Guidance Services stress the individual uniqueness of students and is based on the belief that all students should be directed to a level of self-actualization. The scope of the services is preventive and proactive in focus and developmental in content and process. ‘Developmental Counselling’ and ‘Crisis Intervention’ are the two main components of the services. The Guidance and Counselling Cell anticipates the challenges in the students’ lives and assists them in gaining maturity. The underlying focus of the programme is to help students develop the skill, attitude and knowledge base they need for the success of their academic and personal endevours. Special Education is provided to students who may experience learning difficulties so that their special educational needs, which are within the limits of mild and the moderate zone, are met. CURRICULUM In the early learning years we place emphasis on the areas of Language and Literacy, Mathematics (numerals), Creative Arts and General Awareness along with Physical Development. The school offers the Cambridge Primary Years Curriculum from Grades 1-5 and the Cambridge Secondary 1 Curriculum from Grades 6-8. These programmes are internationally recognised and are tailor made to suit students needs. We regard the development of creativity and thinking skills as extremely important and opportunity to exhibit these are integrated within the curriculum framework. Day field trips – learning by exposure To enhance learning, various sites and relevant places of interest have been identified to give our children hands-on experience as well as to give them the opportunity to meet people from various spheres of life. These are integrated within the curriculum. Places to be visited are communicated to the parents through circulars or mentioned in the almanac. Participation in these visits is mandatory for all students and may be charged extra as per cost to school. Behaviour Management Learning acceptable behaviour in the classroom and other social settings is vital to the success of every child. Behaviour management techniques used by the staff encourage a child to gain self-control, self-reliance, and to respond positively to others. Positive reinforcement of proper and acceptable behaviour is used so as not to destroy the child’s self-esteem but to promote acceptable social interaction with peers as well as adults. A positive proactive approach including prevention, redirection and praise is the preferred intervention model. “A person is known by the company one keeps”. ITM Global School, Gwalior Our Houses Fire Luminous Orange Earth Prosperous Green Water Serene Blue Air Pure White Sky Light Blue From the beginning of time humans have always tried to find out what makes up everythingthe trees, the flowers, the rivers and of course, the human body. Great old thinkers with great old beards and big old brains gave many ideas but one which came to be talked about is the idea of the five great elements. An element is something which makes up other things and it is believed that everything on this earth is made up of these five elements- fire, earth, water, air and the sky. And each element represents not just an outer cover but also links with the inner soul of any being. Fire is bright, passionate, creative and gives light. Water is cool, tranquil and peaceful. Air is fast and swift, it is powerful but tender. The Earth is humble, quiet, solid and dependable. The Sky is endless, mysterious and full of imagination. All around the round world, there are different notions of colour for the elements but in a broad sense, the colours stand as follows: Fire being a luminous orange; Earth a prosperous green, Water a serene blue, Air a pure white and Sky a light blue. All five have some unique qualities that give them their identities and each element has something which strikes a chord with the inner self. So go ahead and realise yourself. As a partner with parents in this responsibility, ITM Global School believes that the Elementary School should be an enjoyable and memorable experience for children. We believe that: • Every child comes to school ready to learn. • Elementary schooling includes academic achievements with social preparation which is essential for helping the children to become welladjusted, happy and secure in their daily life. • Elementary School gives the faculty the opportunity to determine the social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs of every child and to provide a nurturing environment to meet these needs. • A well-run program is important in order to provide the children with the fundamental skills and essential knowledge that they need to become successful students when they graduate to Junior school. • The parents are an integral part of the educational planning for their children. • The role of the parents in day-to-day education of their children cannot be underestimated. Parents are encouraged to ensure that their children are well-rested, properly equipped for school, on-time, prepared and ready to learn. • A good school needs professional teachers and parents who are keenly interested in quality education as our goal is to have happy, alert and healthy children who are eager to learn and achieve. • It is our responsibility to serve our children, our parents and our community in a courteous, safe, effective and efficient manner. ITM Global School, Gwalior Few Tips On Parenting • Involve your children in daily house-hold chores and encourage them to ask questions. • Encourage your children to take decisions for solving little problems independently and to learn from mistakes. This will enable the children to understand that mistakes are part and parcel of our day to day work. • Children enjoy different things and we should encourage them to explore these areas. • All like winning and whenever you play with your children let them win at times so that they experience the pleasure and pride in doing well. Inculcate the concept of a fair game! • Share your good experiences with them and listen to their fairy tale stories and simple illustrations with interest. It creates wonderful bonding. • Let your children take measured risks. As a parent, one tends to be overprotective. This is to be avoided at times. • Let your children explain parts of their lessons or probably their simple ways at solutions to family issues. This will help them develop sequencing of their thoughts and will also make them understand “why” and “why not”. • If your child is enjoying something and having fun playing (and maybe you are not), let him/her be. The children need to live their age. • Your children are unique and individuals with their own strengths and limitations. Avoid comparisons and give your children the opportunities for developing their potential to the fullest. “Concentrate on finding your goal, then concentrate on reaching it”. saturday Friday Thursday Wednesday Tuesday Monday day Duration Period TimE Grade__________________ Sec____________________ Term________________________ Teacher__________________________ time table ITM Global School, Gwalior “With every rising of the sun, think of your life as just begun”. saturday Friday Thursday Wednesday Tuesday Monday day Duration Period TimE Grade__________________ Sec____________________ Term________________________ Teacher__________________________ time table ITM Global School, Gwalior “Concentrate on finding your goal, then concentrate on reaching it”. saturday Friday Thursday Wednesday Tuesday Monday day Duration Period TimE Grade__________________ Sec____________________ Term________________________ Teacher__________________________ time table ITM Global School, Gwalior “With every rising of the sun, think of your life as just begun”. saturday Friday Thursday Wednesday Tuesday Monday day Duration Period TimE Grade__________________ Sec____________________ Term________________________ Teacher__________________________ time table ITM Global School, Gwalior Easter Sunday sunday 13 20 27 19 26 School Session 2015-2016 Begins 6 12 5 Monday 7 28 21 14 World Health Day Tuesday 29 International Earth Day 22 15 8 1 Wednesday April 2015 9 2 30 23 16 Thursday 3 24 17 10 Water Melon Day Whole School Friday 4 25 18 11 New Parents’ Orientation saturday ITM Global School, Gwalior 3 31 18 25 17 24 4 11 Monday 10 Summer Vacation Begins sunday 5 26 19 12 Tuesday 27 20 13 6 Wednesday may 2015 7 28 21 14 Thursday 1 29 22 15 8 May Day;
