Festa Italia 2015 invites you to step back in time with the La Crescent Apple Jacks Baseball
Team on Saturday May 30 from 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm.. Three complete games will be played
over the course of the afternoon. See Vintage Baseball at its finest, when it all began, back in
1860. A “Celebrity Vintage Baseball Game” will start the tournament at Noon. Rules from 1860

Simply put, Vintage "base ball" is baseball presented as being played by rules and customs
from an earlier period in the sport's history. The main goal for vintage clubs is to preserve,
perpetuate and promote the game of base ball as it was played during the formative years of the
19th century.
To meet those goals, vintage base ball is not only a competitive game, but also a re-enactment
of baseball life similar to American Civil War re-enactment. Players dress in uniforms
appropriate to the time period, and in fact many teams are direct copies of teams that existed in
the 19th century. The styles and speech of the 19th century are also used while playing vintage
base ball.
Vintage base ball is also living history. By bringing the origins of the game to life, it rescues the
story of the game (a game that is indelibly tied to the story of the United States) from the
yellowing pages of old history books. Vintage base ball educate the public regarding the
character, history and growth of the game with attention to the historical context in which it
originated and developed.
The Italian Workmen’s Club of Madison, WI. is proud to announce Festa Italia
2015. The annual celebration dates this year are 5/29 through 5/31. IWC is a
fraternal, charitable organization that was founded in 1912 and is one of the oldest,
continuously active clubs in America. IWC is located in the historic Greenbush neighborhood.
Festal Italia 2015 is a three-day celebration of family, food, culture and fun that features,
Vintage Baseball, Bocce Ball Tournaments along with, Live Music, Folk Dancing, Italian Food,
Pasta Eating Contest, Children’s Activities and much, much more.
Festa Italia 2015 is located at McKee Farms Park, 2900 Chapel Valley Rd, Fitchburg, WI 53711.
Festivities start on Friday evening May 29, 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM, Saturday 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM
and concludes Sunday May 31, 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM.
