Vintage & Classic Car News and Observations from Bob Pease:
This is the first of my observations, insights, and ramblings about the “old car hobby”
from a fellow car-nut that’s been involved in this crazy affliction for over 40 years!
More of Bob’s Credentials:
I started with Model A’s, then Model B Fords, Buicks, Hupps, Auburn, Cads, Porsches,
Packards, and finally Cord 810. It’s been a glorious ride…met some great lifelong
friends, been to places I probably would never see and learned a lot. This Blog is meant
to help fellow enthusiasts to keep the faith. Check out the Cord book that Bob designed
and produced at www.cordcompletebook.com
The Auction Circuit:
As you know, the auction circuit has been taken over from rational evaluation of our
favorite marques and is being over-run by “Investors,” who mainly are not car-guys who
drive, restore and care about our automotive history. The greed is overwhelming.
Barn Finds All the Way from Paris:
As a current example, a good friend has just attended The Retromobile Exhibitor in
Paris, France. What a fine place for a huge car show of automobiliae, rare parts,
literature, rare cars, auctions – a totally up-scaled Hershey. With daily reports on the
goings-on, the vast halls and something for everyone…his photos and remarks are an
insight of a happening of rusty junk…http://theoldmotor.com/?p=139452
The Value the Rusty Junk of Vintage Cars:
Vintage car events like the Retromobile in Paris have made finding rare automobiles in
some old aunt garage or backyard more valuable than ever. This has elevated to these
hither to junk vehicle to dizzy heights of value.

See What Derelict Cars are going for:
Take for example the official Artcurial’s Ballion Collection result$ and the mostly
derelict cars pictured. Once they are touched, they will surely turn to dust. Yet, I guess
what is somebody’s junk is another man’s treasure.
Wish I was there!
Till next time… Bob
