PRESIDENT Fay.
How wonderful is was to have so many of you attend our 1st birthday rally. Thank you to all my fellow
committee members for their help to make this so successful. A special thank you must go to Jennifer for making that delicious birthday cake. Yum!
Now its time for our inaugural annual meeting. As there are nominations for all positions it should be a
mere formality and should not take up too much time. A general meeting will follow and I would love everyone
to have lots of input into how you would like to see our club go ahead in the next 12 months.
Venue suggestions are always appreciated and will be followed up. Of course to make our rallies fun
and varied please give us any ideas you may have on games and other activities. It will help our club grow in a
positive way if we all have input. If there are any other issues you would like to discuss please let Juliet know so
she can add it to the agenda.
I know Winton and Robyn and putting a lot of thought into making the rest of the rally light hearted and
fun, so please join us at Ivory’s Rock. Although there is no water to the caravans there are plentiful amenities
for us to use.
Electricity is fine. It will be time to get the camp ovens out as there is a great campfire sight
for us to use as well. See you all there. In the meantime for those who are not well we hope you are soon
fighting fit and able to join us.
Love, Fay

Did you know
Batteries
Over 8,000 tonnes of batteries go into landfill each year. Batteries are one of the most dangerous common waste discarded by Australian households. Many are made from heavy metals and harmful elements such as nickel, cadmium, lead and mercury, which can pollute soil
and water and harm wildlife and humans.
Currently, less than 3% of all batteries purchased in Australia are recycled, the rest going to
landfill.
North Dakota State University estimates that the outer materials of a battery take about 100
years to decompose, but the chemicals within the battery have an indefinite timeline, meaning they never fully decompose. While most batteries end up in a landfill, decomposing
chemicals have serious repercussions for water sources.
Ink and Toner Cartridges
Most printer cartridges consist of engineering grade polymers, which can take up to 1000
years to decompose. According to Planet Ark, Australians throw away more than 18 million
toner cartridges per year, most of which end up in landfill. Learning more about the impact
of printer cartridges on the environment and the ways owners can dispose of these cartridges responsibly can help consumers reduce the contamination of the groundwater and environment.

The ultimate guide to Australia’s hidden secrets
“Travelling Australia by Road” traces the exploits of the author & his wife Joan as they
travelled the length & breadth of the country seeking out many of Australia’s hidden secrets.
The book reveals by word and with pictures, not only to travellers, but also casual readers,
the extent of this country’s massive wealth of beauty & history; many being far removed from
our major cities and well-known tourist spots.
It aims to expose their findings, not only to travellers, but also to those who prefer to
relax at home and travel with them in their imagination.
Its 60 routes & destinations cover all mainland states and Tasmania. A guide to distances and times covering travel and sight-seeing for each route, makes for easy planning of
journeys of any length, whether it be around Australia or an adventure to a particular area of
the travellers choice.
“Travelling Australia by Road” available to individual Combined Caravan Clubs members
of at a 10% discount from www.travellingaustraliabyroad.com by quoting “Coupon Code” TACCC.
All enquiries, including those for multiple copies should be directed to Colin
