This amazing experience will take place in the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Nevada City, CA. The location for the retreat is the beautiful and scenic Shady Creek Retreat Center. Below is all the info you need to make your retreat comfortable and your travels easy. Environment The environment in the Nevada City area during June can be hot and dry. The average temperatures in Nevada City in June range from highs in the 100s to lows in the 50s. Be sure to bring warm layers for evenings and mornings and a bathing suit if you would like to swim. Please visit www.weather.com for accurate weather information as the retreat date approaches. Travel Info Arrival Date The course begins the evening of Wednesday, June 3rd. Therefore, you should arrive in the area by midday Wednesday and are welcome to arrive at the Shady Creek Retreat Center after check in begins at 3 pm. Departure Date The course ends at 1pm on Sunday, June 7th. Airports The Sacramento and Reno airports are the closest to the retreat facilities, both being about an hour and a half drive from Nevada City. Transportation to and from the airport You will be able to purchase shuttle service from Sacramento International Airport (SMF) as part of your registration. The shuttle will depart on Wednesday June 3rd at 3:30 pm so please schedule your flight to arrive in Sacramento with plenty of time to spare. The return shuttle will depart Shady Creek at 2 pm on Sunday June 7th. Additional shuttle service from the Sacramento Airport is available through Foothill Shuttle and Charter Service. They are a locally run shuttle with excellent service. Take the CA-49 exit, exit 119B, towards Grass Valley/Placerville. Turn left onto CA-193/CA-49. Take Hwy 49 to Nevada City. After the Broad St Exit turn Left to stay on Hwy 49. Take Hwy 49 for about 10.5 miles. Turn right onto Tyler Foote Rd. Take this for 1 mile and turn right onto Pathfinder Way. Take Pathfinder all the way down to Holland Hall were you can check in. From Reno Take I-80 out of Reno. Take Highway 20 to Nevada City/Grass Valley. Turn right on to Hwy 49 and take this for 10.5 miles. Turn right onto Tyler Foote Rd. Take this for 1 mile and turn right onto Pathfinder Way. Take Pathfinder all the way down to Holland Hall were you can check in. From the North From I-5 take Highway 99 south through Chico. Take Highway 149 east to Oroville. Highway 149 becomes Highway 70. Take Highway 70 south about 26 miles towards Marysville. Turn left on Woodruff Lane (after Magnolia Lane, if you reach Bettoncourt you have gone too far). Stay on Woodruff Lane. Turn Left to head towards Grass Valley. Turn left onto Highway 20 towards Grass Valley. Go about 26 miles. Merge Left onto Highway 20/Hwy 49 at Grass Valley. After the Broad St Exit Turn Left onto Hwy 49. Take Hwy 49 for about 10.5 miles. Turn right onto Tyler Foote Rd. Take this for 1 mile and turn right onto Pathfinder Way. Take Pathfinder all the way down to Holland Hall were you can check in. From the South From I-5, take the Marysville/Yuba City exit (Highways 70/99). Take Highway 70 to Marysville. From Marysville, take Highway 20 east toward Grass Valley. Take 20/49 East towards Nevada City. After the Broad St exit turn left onto Hwy 49. Take Hwy 49 for about 10.5 miles. Turn right onto Tyler Foote Rd. What To Bring To make your experience at the retreat comfortable please bring the following items: • Appropriate clothing for range of warm days and cooler evenings and mornings • Yoga mat, meditation cushion and/or firm blanket for sitting on, yoga strap or something that can work as one. No cushions or mats will be provided, please bring your own! • Daypack to hold the things you will want to have with you over the course of each day • Bedding- light sleeping bag or sheets and blankets for full sized bed • Towels for your personal use • Personal Care items/Supplements • Water bottle • Reusable mug for tea or coffee • Journal and/or notebook and pens • Flashlight/batteries/chargers for devices The Shady Creek Retreat Center The location for the immersion retreat is the Shady Creek Retreat Center, a gorgeous facility nestled in the rolling foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The Facilities and Land The Shady Creek Retreat Center features a variety of indoor and outdoor facilities for activities and lodging. The main hall is a stunning work of architecture and the property includes a beautiful outdoor amphitheatre, over 130 acres of forest with hiking trails, and of course, the Shady Creek. The Food and Dining The food at Shady Creek is exceptional. The meals are mostly vegetarian with options for everyone, prepared using primarily organic and locally grown ingredients. Retreats at Shady Creek have earned a reputation for having some of the finest and healthiest food available. Meals are served in a buffet fashion and each meal features both hot and cold foods. Tea, coffee and other beverages are also offered and all-inclusive with your retreat tuition. Accommodations and Lodging There are two lodging options at Shady Creek, cabins and camping. Once you register for the course on our shopping cart, we will direct you to the webpage where you can submit your accommodation preference. Private rooms are available in a limited supply and for an additional fee. If you prefer to stay off-site, we can provide a list of local accommodations. Cabins The on-site cabins are basic, clean and comfortable. They are shared cabins, typically with four people to a room. You will need to bring all of your bedding and toiletries with you (we will provide you with a list of what to bring upon registration completion). Private and couples cabins are available at limited supply for an additional charge. You can pay this additional fee upon registration if rooms are available. Camping There is a limited amount of on-site camping available. You will need to bring your own tent, bedding and toiletries.
