SETH ANANDRAM JAIPURIA SCHOOL PRE-PRIMARY HOLIDAY HOMEWORK SESSION 2015-16 Dear Parent, Vacations are a time to relax and experience change from the school routine. The temptations are great for children to spend hours watching TV or playing video games, but with a little planning the vacations can be transformed into a time to stretch the mind, explore new hobbies, learn about responsibility and build on different skills. So give your child an opportunity to discover his/her talent. HANDY TIPS FOR PARENTS 1. Spend quality time with your child every day. 2. The joy of giving-Let your child develop a feeling of sharing and caring by donating his/her old toys, clothes, games etc. to the poor and needy and let them feel the pleasure of giving. 3. Ensure that your child develops healthy eating habits and teach him/ her good table manners. 4. Encourage him/her for physical outdoor activities, sports, dance etc. 5. Allot him/her a span of 10 – 15 min. a day to wind up his /her room and keep all the things in the correct place. 6. Get him/her a piggy bank and encourage them to save money. 7. Encourage your child to complete tasks in his/her own way. 8. Play indoor games like snakes and ladders, chess, carom board etc. with your child to improve his/her numerical ability and motor skills. 9. Be a story teller. Create a story telling corner at home where you can create an ambience and tell children interesting stories. 10. Information is power-Share a simple news with your child every day. LEARN TO BE INDEPENDENT 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Learn how to wear socks and shoes yourself. Learn your house address and also phone no. of your parents. Learn to eat neatly and slowly with your mouth closed. Go for a morning walk with your parents and identify the birds with different colours. Sense walk- find objects/things that appeal to the five senses i.e. sight, taste, touch, smell and hear. 6. Concept walk- Take a stroll with your child and explain him/her the pre number concepts like wet and dry, long and short, heavy and light. Help your child in collecting things and pictures related to them. 7. Make your child learn a short prayer to offer before going to bed. ACTIVITIES FOR CLASS PREP PRACTICING SELF HYGIENE “Feeling fresh, smelling clean, Always practice good hygiene.” Hygiene is a habit that needs to be focused on and inculcated in children at an early age. Keeping this in mind let’s start with the initial stage of self-hygiene. Take a small zip pouch and keep a tissue, sanitizer, paper soap and handkerchief in it. Label it with your name and class and bring it to school daily. I AM SPECIAL It’s wonderful to watch children form their own identities as they become aware of who they are and what they can do. In this popular theme, you’ll focus on children’s unique qualities and capabilities.Celebrate your child’s accomplishments ,no matter how small. Make children feel by giving them the chance to say “ I can do it all by myself” DIRECTIONS - Take a small box and cover it with coloured paper.Do any activity everyday (e.g. I can make my bed, I can read etc.). Write it on a small coloured paper (any shape) and put it in that box. In the last week of your summer break, make a beautiful collage on an A-3 sheet out of those chits. Name the collage I CAN ........ Also write your name, class,section and bring it to school. MAT FOR MY SNACK TIME Make a Table Mat using an A4 size Pastel Sheet of any colour. Give it a nice and bright border . Paste a passport size photograph of your child on the left hand side. Mention the NAME ,CLASS, SECTION and paste the computerized format of the prayer given. When kids are told about the importance of protecting the environment, they are often eager and keen to save it. Take an old shoe box cover it with a bright sheet and use it as a litter box in your car while travelling. Along with your mother, buy a gift for your father. Take a plain sheet and do vegetable printing on it. Wrap the gift with this sheet and surprise your father on 21 June 15 i.e. FATHER’S DAY.
