JUNIOR DIVISION (Class 48) is designed to encourage young people in more active participation of community
life. PARTICIPANTS CAN ONLY ENTER IN THE CATEGORY OF YOUR AGE AT FAIR TIME. NO ENTRY FEE IS
REQUIRED WHEN ENTERING JUNIOR DIVISION CLASSES.

* FORMS MUST BE COMPLETED AND BROUGHT INTO THE FAIR OFFICE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, BUT NO LATER
THAN SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2014, SO YOU CAN PICK UP YOUR EXHIBITOR NUMBER AND ENTRY TAGS.
*ENTRY TAGS MUST BE ATTACHED TO YOUR ITEMS.

Entry items may be placed in the FAMILY PAVILION (Curling Club) on Wednesday evening, October 1st from 7:00 p.m. to
9:00 p.m. or from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 2nd. No entries will be received after 10:00 a.m. Thursday,
October 2nd. Entries MAY NOT BE REMOVED until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 5, 2014. Metcalfe Agricultural Society is
not responsible for articles left in the exhibit halls after 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2014.

ALL ENTRIES ARE TO BE THE WORK OF THE EXHIBITOR.
ALL BAKING ENTRIES MUST BE INSERTED INTO A CLEAR PLASTIC BAG ON CARDBOARD OR A DISPOSABLE
PLATE AND WILL BE TASTED BY THE JUDGE UNLESS SPECIFIED OTHERWISE. PLEASE CHECK MEASUREMENTS

A Lucky Draw will be held for those children who have not won a prize. A prize will be given for each age group.
JUNIOR DIVISION COLOURING CONTEST
Each Junior exhibitor up to 12 years old may submit one entry in the colouring contest.
**NOTE**: Colouring contest can be entered only if you are entering in one or more of the following listed classes at the Metcalfe
Fair. Colouring sheets may be picked up at the Fair Office when you’re bringing your entry form.
Prizes for some classes will be books. Stuffed animal prizes are donated by Robertson Amusements.
5 YEARS AND UNDER AT FAIR DATE

15 years. 6 homemade plain chocolate chip cookies (no nuts) on a disposable plate no larger than 23 cm in a plastic bag.

YOUTH POSTER CONTEST
ORIGINAL HAND MADE DESIGN
Classes: A) Junior up to and including Grade 4
B) Intermediate Grade 5 to Grade 8 inclusive
C) Senior Grade 9 to Grade 12 inclusive
Entry Rules:
1. Poster theme is “Promoting Your Fair” – Name and date of fair must be clearly shown on the poster.
2. The poster must be hand drawn.
3. Poster size: Minimum – 8 1/2” x 11” (23cm x 28cm), without border
Maximum - 11” x 17” (28cm x 44cm)
4. Each entry must be mounted on a card stock or bristol board to show a 2” border on all four sides.
5. Name of fair and owner of poster to be clearly labelled on the back of each entry.
Prize Money: 1st - $5, 2nd - $4, 3rd - $3
Judging Standards:
1. Overall appearance – 20 points;
2. Attract and hold attention – 25 points;
3. Competition theme clear – 40 points;
4. Quality materials / end product – 15 points.
The winning poster will be eligible to go to the OAAS District 1 Competition.

CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST

Section SR - Ages 15 to 18
Entrants must deliver to the secretary at 2821 8 th Line Road, Metcalfe, ON, K0A 2P0, by Monday, September 22, 2014 by no later
than 3:30 p.m., a typed, double-spaced, 500-1000 word short story.
THEME – “A Day at the Metcalfe Fair”
Judging based on 50% Content, 30% Focus Mechanics, and 20% Creativity.
