State Titles
Get ready, its almost here!
The ACT/NSW State Championships is fast approaching! Lock 13 -‐ 14 June into your calendars with the venue being the Harrison School gym. The Program of Events will be out shortly. There is lots of parking out the front of the school, plan to enter through the gates near the administration building or front office. Invite your friends and family to come and support us, we will have a coffee vendor on both days so there will be lots to see and d o. Remember, more supporters … better atmosphere! Sneak Peek
On Friday 12 Jun, the night before the big event, we will be setting up in the Harrison School gym from 4pm. If you would like to come down and scope out the venue you are most welcome. Bring ropes for a quick warm-‐up too as we’ll have committee members setting up for the event. Don’t forget there is training on the Sunday and Monday (long w/end) before the event!!! Be Careful!
The Harrison School has made special mention that any play on their playground is at your own risk! Please take special care for everyone using the playground. It can be very daunting standing up in front of everyone at competitions. The most important thing for you and to remember is that you have been brave enough to give it a go. You have trained hard, and sometimes on the day things don’t go as well as we would like. A single slip up on the speed rope can mean the difference between first and fourth place. The Coaches understand this all too well, and are proud of all Jazzy Jumpers, not just for your efforts at competitions, but for your effort at each training session. Achieving a personal best is sometimes even more rewarding than a medal. And most importantly it’s about enjoying the experience, having fun and making new friends with the other teams. What we need help with
Canteen We need volunteers to sell drinks, cakes, chocolates at the canteen. Hair Girl’s long hair must be braided. If you need help with braiding, please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to warm up on the day for another parent to assist. The teams usually decide amongst themselves about ribbons or hairspray glitter (none of which is compulsory). It is important though that any ribbons are safely secured, as points can be deducted should they fly loose during the event. Tanya and Michelle have secured bulk amounts of new colour hair ribbon for use at our competitions, they will be available on the day. Performance at the St Anthony’s Fete -‐ Wanniassa
Volunteers Volunteers
We really want this year’s State competition to be something that will be hard to beat! However, to make it great we need volunteers. A big thank you to everyone who has already volunteered as a judge or official. Laces Many skippers like to wear a different colour lace in their right shoe. This is not compulsory, however it is used to help focus the official counters during the speed events. Remember there are no re-‐skips for shoelaces coming undone so don't forget your safe laces – will be available for sale at the competition. Flooring For new parents, we’ve got other roles too. Maybe you could come and help for a while on the BBQ; or selling cakes and making toasted sandwiches in the canteen? The more volunteers we have the less time people will be rostered on over the weekend. We understand the importance of seeing your child skip, so if you are rostered on during that time we expect you to escape with the camera. If you can help, please contact us. Harrison School are very protective of their new sports floor…remember, non marking soles, and definitely no heels allowed!! Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser – 11Jul15 We have secured a much wanted date to assist with fundraising, if you can spare some time to assist, please contact us. Uniforms
Some of our skippers recently trying on the new uniforms.
We plan to have the polo shirts and tracksuits arriving just in time for the competition. For all events boys will wear their singlet top and shorts and girls will wear their singlet top and 3/4 leggings. However girls may choose to wear shorts instead of leggings for their individual events. Polo shirts, jackets and tracksuit pants can be worn between events when skippers are not competing. For the presentations at the end of each day skippers need to be wearing their jacket and either tracksuit pants or leggings (girls) / shorts (boys). Please remember that only club tracksuit pants can be worn for the presentation, no substitutes. 2
