Care at the End of Life: An
Evolving Canadian Landscape
Jeff Blackmer, MD, MHSc, FRCPC, Vice-President,
Medical Professionalism, Canadian Medical Association
Abstract: The past few years have seen major changes in our approach to care
at the end of life in Canada. From advances in palliative care to a Supreme
Court decision paving the way to physician assisted dying, the landscape seems
to shift near daily under our feet. This discussion will provide an update on the
current situation with a focus on the work of the Canadian Medical Association
in this area.
