The Success of Quotidian (Everyday)
Ethics Aided by Students, Fellows and
JCB Colleagues
Bob Parke, MSW, RSW, MHSc
Clinical Ethicist, Humber River Hospital
Abstract: Celebrating 20 years of the JCB, this talk will focus on the success achieved in the
quotidian, everyday ethics that we engage in. Topics included in this overview range from
transitions in care planning, mental health, public health, advance care planning, palliative care
and managing chronic illnesses. The overarching theme will be how bioethicists and bioethicstrained health care professionals have made a difference in each of these and other domains.
Keeping within the theme of celebration, a key element will be the acknowledgement of the
contributions of fellows, students, and the members of the JCB in realizing the mission to be:
"Improving health through leadership in bioethics research, education, and practice".
