DINUBA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT CAFETERIA/NOON DUTY AIDE 3 Hours Daily – Varies per Site 50% Cafeteria/50% Noon Duty JOB TITLE: Cafeteria/Noon Duty Aide JOB SUMMARY: The Dinuba Unified School District Cafeteria/Noon Duty Aide is under the direction of the Food Service Director and is responsible for assisting in preparing, cooking, baking, selling and serving a variety of food; preparing assigned food serving area; perform routine food service activities related to the setting up of serving areas; maintain an orderly, safe and sanitary food service area. The Cafeteria/Noon Duty Aide will be responsible for cultivating excellence in food services. In addition, noon aide duties will be to assist in supervision of the activities of students in the cafeteria or lunchroom during lunch and do related work as required. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Experience): The Cafeteria/Noon Duty Aide will possess a high school diploma or equivalent; possess a valid CPR and First Aid certification; a Serve Safe Certificate; possess a valid California Drivers’ license; and have knowledge of the proper methods of preparing, cooking, serving and storing foods and proper methods of sanitation and safety. The ability to read and understand operations manuals and recipes; understand and carry out oral and written directions; operate a variety of food service equipment safely; count money and make change accurately; maintain a cooperative working relationship; and to meet schedules and timelines. Basic needs and requirements of students; safety procedures and requirements; ability to direct, guide and organize students; recognize activities and conditions which may be unsafe; learn applicable policies, procedures and practices rapidly; handle emergencies in case of accident or illness; successful experience interacting with children; understand and carry out oral and written directions; work cooperatively with those contacted in the course of work. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION: 1. Assist in the preparation of food items following standard recipes and procedures. 2. Chop, slice, mix, grate and assemble food items for sandwiches, salads, and main dishes as assigned. 3. Set up assembly line for hot and cold dishes according to established time lines and procedures; prepare salad bar with food, utensils and other required items. 4. Serve food items to students, faculty and staff, apportion fruits, vegetables and other items according to established guidelines; replenish food as needed. 5. Clean dishes, trays, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment; wash serving and food preparation areas; maintain serving areas and kitchen in a clean, sanitary and orderly condition. 6. Operate a variety of kitchen equipment including mixer, fryer, slicer, can opener, dishwasher, warmer, ovens and others. 7. Assist with the preparation and serving of food for special events and luncheons as assigned. 8. Assist in the storage of food service food items, supplies and materials. 9. Perform related duties as assigned by Food Services Director, site Principal or the District Superintendent. 10. Observe and monitor activities of students during lunchtime 11. Attend meetings, classes and in-service training. 12. Willingness to be flexible in location duty reassignments as needed. 13. Perform routine and repetitive work to completion.
