PE & Curriculum Support (PECS) Mentor

Job roles:
To support and mentor members of the primary school workforce to achieve the delivery of high quality
PE and school sport
To deliver high quality sessions to encourage children and young people to be physically active through
our extra-curricular provision (after school, holiday camps and specialist sports academies)

Principal accountabilities / responsibilities:











Plan 'Outstanding' sessions that engage and progress learners to exceed expectations (Schools
and holiday camps)
Assess the achievement of learners and use this to plan for their development
Deliver 'Outstanding' sessions that engage and progress learners to exceed expectations
Organise the correct equipment and resources required for maximum participation and progress
of learners
Keep and maintain registers to track attendance, achievement and progress of learners
Ensure all sessions and activities comply with health & safety guidelines and procedures
Offer outstanding service to customers and stakeholders, being flexible and fitting in with their
ethos
Meeting deadlines that are set and communicating in advance when this is not achievable
Understanding and following the policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook to
ensure company operations are efficient
Abide by health & safety policies at all times and following correct procedures for dealing with
and reporting accidents/injuries
Adhere to the company safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults policy (including not
using mobile phones in the presence of learners)












Complying with delivery handbooks for each programme area, to ensure consistency and quality
of service
Follow the guidance provided by Ofsted to ensure company is compliant
Teaching, mentoring, supporting learners to fulfil their potential
Communicating effectively with colleagues, customers and managers to ensure company
operations are efficient

The company work with schools, the NHS, community groups and local authorities. Our innovative, education-focused programmes are at the heart of improving lives and are delivered by a team of passionate people who inspire
children, young people and families to be 'Active for Life’. The Physical Education Curriculum Support (PECS) programme is the latest of these. The mentoring focused programme works with teaching staff in the delivery of outstanding
primary school PE.
Job Specification
A PE and School Sport Mentor delivers the PECS programme to a high standard. They mentor teaching staff to help
them deliver outstanding PE lessons. They ensure that all customers experience a service that exceeds their
expectations.
The role:

Use mentoring skills to deliver the PECS programme to primary school teaching staff

Share in-depth knowledge of primary school PE with programme participants

Communicate effectively with all programme participants

Administer pre-delivery tasks

Ensure all impact data is completed

Report to the PECS Programme Co-ordinator

Employed status on a contract of 37 hours per week
Salary of £14,250 to £17,000 + reward scheme for high performance
