2015 RUN! BALLANTYNE 8K, 5K, & 1 MILE FUN RUN SCHOOL TEAM DIVISION May 2, 2015 marks the 11th year of our race presented by Bissell and the Morrison Family and Ballantyne Village YMCAs. We are excited to offer the School Team division again this year! With over 2,500 runners last year, this popular event continues to grow within the community. Held in the Ballantyne Corporate Park, it's the perfect race for beginning runners to elite runners and every level in between making it fun for the entire family! NEW COURSE & 8K option this year! SCHOOL TEAM BENEFITS School Teams are a great way to encourage teambuilding and healthy lifestyles within your school among students and faculty. Represent your school by joining your classmates & teachers and competing in the 8k, 5k, Einstein Bros. Bagels 1-mile Fun Run, or volunteering. A minimum of 10 runners is required. No maximum. Having a School Team has many benefits, including: • • • • Promoting School Spirit. Teams with 20 or more runners receive school team performance shirts. Teambuilding through training programs & competition to be the winner of your School Team Division. Promoting healthy lifestyles and reaching personal goals. NEW THIS YEAR: Winning team for each division (participation only) wins a $500 Grant to be used for the Health & Physical Education program and/or Sports program at your school. WIN YOUR DIVISION Teams will be placed into divisions based on grade level (Elementary School, Middle School, & High School.) • • • Division 1: Elementary School Teams Division 2: Middle School Teams Division 3: High School Teams 2015 School Team Division Winners will be determined based on the number of total points they earn in the following categories: Participation Award • 10 points for each participant above the 5 participant minimum in our 8k & 5K Race • 5 points for each participant above the 5 participant minimum in our Einstein Bros. Bagels 1-Mile Fun Run • 5 points will be awarded for each Volunteer from your school that helps to make our race successful by assisting on the day of the race (coordinated through our YMCA.) BALLANTYNE 8K, 5K, & 1 MILE FUN RUN SCHOOL TEAM DIVISION RACE PRICING RACE REGISTER INFORMATION YOUR TEAM If your school is interested in participating, a Team Captain needs to be selected and will have the following responsibilities: (The Team Captain does not have to actually participate in the race and can simply serve as an ‘organizer’. ) 1. Fill out the School Team Captain registration link on our website (deadline: April 17th) http://www.ymcacharlotte.org/branches/morrison/socialres p/events/runballantyne.aspx 2. After receiving your confirmation email stating your team is set up in the registration system, recruit members of your school to join the team and register online through our website (above.) 3. Remind team members to select your school name to designate their team when they register. 4. Remind school team members of the registration deadline: April 17th to receive school team shirts (teams of 20 or more runners.) 5. If you want to check on who has signed up from your school: as team members sign up, their names will be listed on the registration website along with your school name. We will also keep an updated list for you too. 6. Distribute race shirts & labeled bib numbers with disposable timing chips to your teammates. These will be delivered to your school by the YMCA on 4/30/15. 7. Enjoy the event!!! Registration is available online only.
