Josephine SummerStage began in 2011 with an all
-female production and cast of Macbeth. 2015 marks our
5th anniversary and we celebrate by returning to our allfemale roots for an innovative production of Henry V.
Sculptor Alison Hiltner from Minneapolis, MN will join the
core creative team and be in residence next spring to create a site-specific sculpture to be integrated into the
production.
Hiltner was selected as guest sculptor due to her
impressive international exhibition record & compelling approach to environmental & thematic issues in her creative
practice. Aesthetically & conceptually, her work is remarkable and explores the fine line between real science and
science fiction.

Staff:
Thanks to YOU, 2014 was a whirlwind of creative activity. We hosted many artists in residence &
installed five new art works at JSP. In addition, we installed a fourth sculpture at the Kentucky
Employees Credit Union (KECU) as part of our Outdoor Satellite Gallery Program. Thanks to Harrod Concrete, we are expanding this program and will be installing several new sculptures around
Frankfort over the next few years. The first installation will be on the grounds of Franklin County
Tourism at the corner of Second St. and Capital Ave. We conducted free Kids Make Art workshops which were sponsored by the Kentucky Foundation for Women & Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky. In June, audiences were astounded by our fourth annual theatrical production
of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale on the JSP SummerStage, sponsored by KECU. We were
told by many that it was our “BEST one yet!” We held our fifth Annual Fall Arts Festival in September, complete with local live music on the stage throughout the day, hot metal sculptures created
by you, glass blowing, printmaking, kids art activities, tours, bubbles & several new community
partners including The Living Arts & Science Center, Salato Wildlife Center, Full Circle Studio &
Gallery, Bluegrass Theatre Guild & the Franklin County Humane Society to name just a few! That
day, many of you participated in the creation of a new community sculpture initiated by Latitude
Artist Community. This “message in a bottle” project will be completed and installed at JSP next
spring, so plan to come back and see it!!
How to Get Involved:
Today, we are asking for your continued support of Josephine Sculpture Park as we plan our
most action-packed year yet! Our focus on arts and environmental programming will expand. Our
events are growing, and we are seeking interested people to serve on our board & on the steering
committee for the annual Fall Arts Festival.
