Monday 18th May 2015 Issue#20 Helen Sutton is an incredibly dedicated Kalannie Netball Club member, taking on various roles for both the junior and senior teams over the years including coaching and umpiring. She has also been a very committed secretary of the club for the past 3 seasons. Helens passion for netball is unrivalled. She takes that attitude to training and each game which makes her an incredibly tough competitor. She is a versatile player, able to switch from defence to attack quarter by quarter and play with intensity, integrity and heart. Its wonderful to have such a talented and passionate player in our team. Well done Helen, here's to 100 more ;) Monday 18th May 2015 May Sat 23rd Kalannie vs Beacon Belt Up Round Thurs 28th KCRC Ispot Workshop Sat 30th CWNA Carnival Bye June Thurs 4th Sat 6th Sat 13th Sat 20th Thurs 25th Tue 30th Sat 27th KCRC Indesign Workshop Kalannie vs Towns Bencubbin vs Kalannie Talk to a Mate Men’s Wellbeing Round Country Week Hockey Bye KCRC Governance Workshop Kalannie Youth Dance Group Showcase Koorda vs Kalannie Purple Bra for Breast Cancer Care WA Round Ambulance Roster 2015 May Jungle & P Harris 3 Kalannie Community Resource Centre Issue # 20 KALANNIE SPORTS NOTICES KOMETS It was a hopeful start to the game with Kalannie quickly getting two goals, including Muka’s first centre pass. By the end of first quarter though, Muka caught on with strong, accurate shooting. It was Kalannie’s superb defence that stayed on their heels and stole most of the rebounds but wasn’t quite enough. By the end of second quarter and down by 15 goals Komets decided to turn the game in their favour and fight harder. During third quarter Kalannie’s shooters wrestled hard for the ball and confidently sunk the goals. With some new tactics the centre players put Muka off their game and achieved a number of turn overs. It was Kalannie’s voices, motivation and hunger for the ball that ended the game in only an 8 goal loss. Kalannie may not have won on the score card, but in the game they dominated through and through. Congratulations to Helen Sutton for her 100th game with Kalannie Komets. Congratulations to Bree Franz who was awarded the Bendigo Bank round award and players choice award and also Alisha Treloar for receiving the coach’s award. Well done Kalannie Komets on an amazing game and thank you Muka. 4 Kalannie Community Resource Centre Issue # 20 KALANNIE SPORTS NOTICES JUNIOR KOMETS Well finally we had a battle on our hands against Muka at Muka. Both teams were really evenly matched and the Junior Komets had to work hard all game. Some lovely shooting by Jacinta & Bianca (we are going to miss you girls), great defence by Jaime, Tessa & Bailey and some lovely leading by Chloe, Sophie & Courtney in the centre. The girls realised they had to move to the ball and weren’t able to stand behind their player and expect to get the ball like in previous weeks. The final score was 13 – 10, a very close encounter the whole game. There was a 3 way tie for the player’s choice award this week and because the girls tell each other who they vote for, there is no way I can rig it (tried that early on & got caught out) so I stumped up an extra fiver. These awards went to Courtney Stead, & Tessa Hudson. Well done everyone on a great game. Thanks to Amanda for umpiring, Catherine for scoring and the Muka juniors for the game. Lachie Stanley's uncle Boo won the toss and the dogs kicked with the wind in the first term. (Congrats Carmen and Trav). The doggies dominated the play holding the ball in our forward 50 for the majority of the quarter. A bit of kicking let muka off the hook. But the dogs still came into the first break with a 34 point lead. The doggies had to work into the breeze in the second with muka getting the upper hand as the dogs lacked a bit of discipline and let the Rams move the ball freely. The breeze did offer a few opportunities for a bit of an aerial show with Robbie Delroy, Dyl Thompson, Tommy Harding and Rohan Vaux all doing their bit to try and break the clouds. The dogs copped another of coach johnsons half time sprays due to our lack of talk and team work in the second term. The lads lifted in the 3rd with a fair bit of voice and absolute dominance through the middle of the ground thanks mostly to the the ruck duo Steele hathaway and Dyl Thompson. The doggies held the Rams to just one point while again piling on the behinds slotting 4.9 for the term. (Goal kicking practice at training this week) Doggies enjoying a 53 point lead at the final change. Lucky for the dogs the wind eased in the final term and we were able to slot 3 goals at the non scoring end getting over the line by 46 points. 7 Kalannie Community Resource Centre Issue # 20 KALANNIE SPORTS NOTICES KALANNIE FOOTBALL RESULTS Kalannie vs Mukinbudin Date 16/05/2015 Quarter Kalannie 1st 5 8 0 4 2nd 0 3 2 4 3rd 4 9 0 1 4th 3 3 4 4 6 13 FULL TIME Goals Scorers: Mukinbudin 12 23 Thomas Harding 2, Rohan Vaux 2, Matthew Dinsdale 2, Michael Davies 2, Robbie Delroy 1, Patrick Smith 1, KALANNIE FOOTBALL AWARDS Award Donated by Recipient 1st Best on Ground Crowden Transport Rowan Vaux 2nd Best on Ground Bywaters Gypsum Supplies Mic Davies 3rd Best on Ground Dalwallinu Haulage Dylan Thompson Don Stanley Award Ian & Robyn Stanley Clint Stanley Snatch of the Match Kalannie Tree Supplies Goal of the Day Tom Harding Kalannie Contractors Mic Davies Thanks to all our sponsors for 2015. 8 Kalannie Community Resource Centre Issue # 20 9 Kalannie Community Resource Centre Issue # 20 10 Kalannie Community Resource Centre Issue # 20 11 Kalannie Community Resource Centre Issue # 20 12 Kalannie Community Resource Centre Issue # 20 Mystery Footy Tipping Comp 2015 Here’s how it works: Tip the winners of each game from rounds 10 to 23 inclusive .
