Kanata Food Cupboard Job Description - May 2015 POSITION TITLE: Community Program Assistant Supervision: Event and Volunteer Coordinator & Client Coordinator Duties: Participate in the food donation program at the Kanata Farmers Market and any participating supermarkets Assist in the development of volunteer policies, procedures, and training documents (and other Kanata Food Cupboard documentation if required) Research possible volunteer database solutions and report findings to supervisor Develop recipe of the month program, and other nutrition based programming Assist with fresh food initiative and other Kanata Food Cupboard operational activities Participate in fundraising opportunities, food drives, and community events and initiatives Perform administrative and other Kanata Food Cupboard duties as required Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent verbal and written English communication skills Good organizational and administrative skills Experience developing training or operational documentation an asset. Ability to work independently and also as part of a team Ability to maintain client confidentiality at all times Must be willing and able to perform physical work such as lifting boxes of perishable and non-perishable food when required, setting up tables, hanging banners etc. Must be willing to obtain a police background check if required (at no cost) Ability to take direction A desire to work within social services and a sensitivity towards others Ability to work with Microsoft Office products MUST have been a full-time student in 2014-2015 and MUST be returning as a full-time student in post-secondary studies in September 2015 Must be willing to work Saturdays Valid driver’s license and vehicle required Must be willing to work indoors in a warehouse environment, sometimes with a great number of volunteers. Must be willing to work outside. Must be willing to stand for extended periods of time if required. Preferences: Knowledge of the local community served by the Kanata Food Cupboard Individuals pursuing post-secondary studies in Technical Writing, Social Services, or a Health related field will be given priority Candidate will be remunerated at $11.00 hour - 30hours per week. Typical hours will be Monday to Friday mornings, and Saturdays. The position will be 8 weeks in duration from June 8 – July 31, 2015.
