BEPANTHEN® CREAM Bayer Healthcare What is Bepanthen Cream and when is it used? Bepanthen Cream contains the active ingredient dexpanthenol. Dexpanthenol is rapidly converted in skin cells to pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid plays a part in both the formation and the regeneration of the skin. Bepanthen Cream is used • for the prevention and treatment of chafed, cracked or split skin; • for dry skin; • by nursing mothers for regular breast care and the treatment of sore nipples; • in infant care as a protective barrier against nappy (diaper) wetness and for the prevention and treatment of chafing, redness and diaper rash. What should be kept in mind when using Bepanthen Cream? For the treatment of exposed skin surfaces (such as the face and hands) or hairy skin you may prefer to use Bepanthen Cream, a light, rapidly penetrating formulation. For the treatment of infected wounds you should use an antiseptic, e.g. Bepanthen Plus. • Nursing mothers: apply Bepanthen Cream to the nipples after each breastfeeding. • Infant care: at each nappy (diaper) change spread Bepanthen Cream over your baby’s bottom and groin, after cleaning these areas thoroughly with water. It is important that you follow the dosage instructions contained in this leaflet. Should you feel that this product is too weak or too strong, consult you physician or pharmacist. What side effects can Bepanthen Cream have? Side effects associated with the use of Bepanthen Cream are rare. Should you notice any unusual skin reactions, inform your physician.
