PPC Lime, one of the world's largest lime
producers, operates a processing plant and
mining operation at Lime Acres, some 170km
west of Kimberley. Lime Acres has a
population of approximately 5000 residents
and offers a primary school, library, shopping
centre, hospital/clinic and excellent sport and
recreation facilities. PPC Lime currently has a
vacancy for:
GEOLOGIST / MINE PLANNER
This is a challenging position which entails optimising continuous and developmental programmes to promote sustainable
future of mining at PPC Lime. PPC Ltd places great emphasis on the effective utilisation and development of all its employees
– the Geologist/ Mine Planner will fulfil a crucial role in this regard.
The successful candidate will be responsible for;
· Quality control,
· Optimisation and preservation of reserves and resource evaluation,
· Life of Mine, Phase and Annual planning,
· Ongoing, short-term mine planning and technical support to the operation,
· Hardcopy plans (maps), report and PowerPoint presentation generation,
· Managing the environmental foot print against the mine closure plans,
· Provide support to the operation in terms of applicable Slope Stability measures as contained in the company's Code of
Practice for Falls of Ground.
Applicants must be in possession of a B.Sc. Geology Degree and an Examine and Make Safe certificate with five years open
cast mining experience with exposure to exploration activities. Candidates must be proficient in database software (MS Excel
and Access), geological modelling of ore bodies and mine planning and scheduling techniques. Specialised mining software
knowledge and experience (Surpac and AutoCAD) is a definite requirement. Cement industry and environmental (Quantum
costs calculations and EMPR) experience will be an added advantage.
