She has more than 20 years of dog training experience with over 2000 dogs. She breeds, shows, and competes with her Shelties and Collie. She is also a certified Assistance Dog Trainer for Paws-With-A-Cause and certified Pet Dog Trainer with CCPDT-KA Kathleen Miller Kathleen has been involved with therapy dogs for several years. She is certified through Delta society’s Pet Partners program and is a member of Therapy Dog International. She is also very active in PAWS to Read. Keith Michael Keith is a member of APDT and ABCCDT. He has many years of experience training dogs in obedience and tracking. He has titled his dogs in obedience, tracking, agility, and CGC. He is an evaluator/trainer for AKC CGC and STAR puppy. Amanda Reichert (989)893-1390 Amanda has a career diploma from Penn Foster Career School for Dog Obedience Trainer/Instructor. She is working towards being certified through CCPDT, and has 2 years and 300 hours left to go. She has 3 1/2 years experience, and has been instructing obedience classes for 3 years. She also competes in Flyball. Owner/Operator is certified in Assistance Dog Training, CCPDT-KA, and APDT Professional Member. Julie, along with her husband, has been training and recreationally racing sled dogs for 5 years. She has won awards in skiijoring and would be happy to introduce you to the sport, and show you how to make your dog work for you! Pups will learn to pay attention, walk on a leash, wait at doors, not jump on people, settle down when over excited, and socialize with other puppies. This class is based on positive reinforcement training (“Clicker Training”). Basic Obedience: This class is for dogs from 5 months of age or older. Your dog will learn “sit”, “down”, “come”, “stay”, “heel”, “leave-it”, no jumping, wait at doors, and practice eye contact/ focus training. This class uses positive reinforcement training (“Clicker Training”). C.G.C. test will be offered during the last week of class. Therapy Dog Training: The therapy dog class prepares dogs to visit nursing homes as well as take their Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Therapy Dog International (TDI) tests. Classes are semi-seasonal, TDI test will be offered at the end. You do not need to take the class to take the test; test registration is separate from class registration. Rally/ Practice Time Rally: You and your dog will learn off-leash healing and off-leash recall while navigating a maze of command signs. Rally is a drop-in advanced obedience class and runs all year long on Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 pm. Practice Time: (Same time as Rally), feel free to stop by with your dog for a chance to work on socializing, obedience, or anything else you might need to practice. Conformation: This group-based instruction class prepares you and your dog for the conformation ring. It will help teach your dog to stack and to hold still while being examined, as well as proper gating. Classes are drop-in and run year-round, Thursdays 7:308:30 pm. 25 Pounds and under Obedience Class: This class is designed for small dogs. Basic obedience such as sit, heeling, wait, focus training, down, and stay will be covered. For small dogs, we use positive reinforcement training along with a touch stick to make learning easier. Classes are seasonal. Flyball: Flyball is a high-speed racing game between two teams of four dogs and handlers. Each dog is released on a line and runs 50 feet over four jumps to a box to retrieve a ball. The dog then runs back and returns to the handler. Advanced and intermediate drop-in classes run year round, beginner classes are seasonal. Tracking Dog Training: This class prepares the handler and dog to follow a human’s trail and recover any dropped items along the way. Training in this class is largely individual. The class accepts four dogs maximum in two different groups on different days. Brachycephalic breeds do not do very well in this discipline (dogs with squished noses like Boxers or Boston Terriers). Classes are seasonal. ($5 discount for reoccurring clients) Times and dates will be adjusted for reasonable weather. Skijouring/ Sled Dog Training: This class will help get your dog ready to pull a sled, skis, scooter, rollerblades, or a training cart. Dogs will learn basic sled dog commands, including “Hup hup”, “Whoa”, “Gee”, “Haw”, “On by”, and “Line out”. Humans will learn all about equipment, local racing and skijouring clubs, and how to properly use commands. Private training using a veteran sled dog is available. Obedience classes are an excellent way to train your dog to work through distractions. Dogs should be trained daily to achieve proper results. We prefer to use no-slip collars for training.
