blight, promotes sustainability, and cultivates community
pride through education and beautification. We provide
innovative programs and resources, leverage partnerships,
and organize volunteer events throughout the Greater
Cincinnati region in order to maintain clean, safe, and
strong neighborhoods.
Mission
To educate and encourage individuals to take greater
responsibility for improving their community environments.
Goals
1) To reduce litter and blight by providing volunteers with
the resources, education and supplies they need to initiate
community improvement activities.
2) To increase awareness of environmental issues through
education, public awareness and promotion of the three
Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
“
Creating a strong business and building a

Urban Revitalization Initiative
For decades, KCB has served as a cornerstone for
community revitalization, conservation and economic
development tackling the tough issues of graffiti, illegal
dumping, highway litter, water pollution and unkempt
vacant lots. Our Urban Revitalization Initiative specifically
addresses these ongoing community concerns aggressively
and systematically at the community level. We work
year-round in collaboration with community leaders, City
officials, corporate and private partners, Cincinnati Police,
the Department of Public Services, and thousands of
volunteers to keep Cincinnati beautiful.

Daffodils & Daylilies
KCB has brightened Cincinnati’s highways and major
thoroughfares over the last ten years by planting and
maintaining more than 800,000 daffodil and daylily
bulbs along entrance and exit ramps. By beautifying our
streets and highways, we take pride in our community,
deter littering, and roll out the red carpet to millions of
people traveling along I-75 and I-71 every week.

Environmental Education
Teaching children the importance of environmental
stewardship and community pride is a key part of our
mission. As such, we provide free environmental education
in the form of assemblies, field trips, and classroom
assemblies to students in Cincinnati’s public, private,
and parochial schools. Our programs emphasize the
importance of energy and water conservation, waste
reduction, litter prevention, and more. It is our goal that
students will feel empowered to set an example in the
community and be teachers in their own homes.

KCB directly engages over 10,000 corporate and community volunteers. Our
Environmental Education programs reach over 29,000 students (K-12) annually,
plus an additional 500 teachers, custodians, and administrators. We also have

We Believe...
Sweat equity contributes to the overall sustainability of our efforts. When people put on work
gloves and volunteer in their neighborhood, they become more invested in making and keeping
it beautiful. This leads to changes in perception and behavior across the city.
