Our credit union is right for you!
Join Kekaha FCU—it's worth the drive to the West Side
P
eople all over the world
belong to credit unions,
including over 91 million
members in the United States
and over 800,000 members in
Hawaii. Because credit unions
are not-for-profit financial
institutions, their focus is
serving the financial needs of
their members and not making
a profit. Credit unions typically
offer higher rates on savings,
fewer fees, and lower rates on
loans. Here's what you can
expect from a credit union:
Personal Service
Credit unions provide personal
service designed to help
members grow their savings, pay
off debt, and plan for the future.
At Kekaha FCU, you are not just
an account number.
Not-for-profit Focus
Credit unions are memberowned and operated not-forprofit organizations. This enables
them to fairly price products
and services as well as offer
competitive interest rates.
Community Spirit
Each year, Kekaha FCU hosts a
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
(VITA) site. Qualified tax payers
in the community can get free
income tax preparation. VITA
helps consumers file for Earned
Income Tax Credit, a valuable
but complex tax break for
working families.
2
Fewer Fees
Credit unions tend to offer
fewer and sometimes reduced
fees for their products and
services compared to those
of other financial service
institutions due to their not-forprofit, cooperative structure.

IRS Reminds Taxpayers about “Where’s My Refund?”
T
he Internal Revenue
Service recently reminded
taxpayers they can quickly
check the status of their tax
return and refund through
“Where’s My Refund?”
Taxpayers who have not yet
received their refunds can use
“Where’s My Refund?” on
IRS.gov or on the smartphone
application IRS2Go 5.0 to find
out about the status of their
income tax refunds.
Initial information will
normally be available within 24
hours after the IRS receives the
taxpayer’s e-filed return or four
weeks after the taxpayer mails
a paper return to the IRS. The
system updates only once every
24 hours, usually overnight, so
there’s no need to check more
often.
"Where's My Refund? is the
quickest and easiest way for
taxpayers to get important
information about their tax
refund," said IRS Commissioner
John Koskinen. "Taxpayers need
to remember the Where’s My
Refund system is updated every
24 hours, usually overnight, so
there's no need to check more
than once a day."
So far this year, “Where’s My
Refund?” has received more than
179 million hits on IRS.gov.
Taxpayers should have their
Social Security number, filing
status and exact refund amount
when accessing Where’s My
Refund?
