Itinerary
Day One: Monday 20 July - Alice Springs, Glen Helen Resort, Ormiston Gorge
Arrive at Alice Springs Airport at 1pm to meet the rest of your group, then begin the drive to Glen Helen Resort
(approx 1.5 hours). At the hotel, you will check in, drop off your luggage and freshen up. Then you’ll take a
short drive to breathtaking Ormiston Gorge for sunset photography. When the last glow of twilight has faded,
it’s back to the hotel for dinner, then a good night’s sleep.

Day Two: Tuesday 21 July - Haasts Bluff & Papunya
Sunrise and sunset are usually spectacular in the outback, so be prepared for early starts. Today you’ll eat a
packed breakfast on the coach on you r way out to catch the sunrise over Haasts Bluff. Then around 9.30am,
when the sun is high - you’ll visit the indigenous community of Haasts Bluff where you will have a chance to
interact with some of Ken’s aboriginal friends and visit the local Arts Centre. Then you’ll head out to another
photographic location before returning to Glen Helen for lunch. This afternoon you’ll have an opportunity for
some aerial photography from a helicopter if you like (at your own cost). If that doesn’t appeal, you can spend
time wandering and taking photos around the local area. For sunset tonight, you’ll be taken to Finke River
lookout. Once the sun disappears, it’s back to Glen Helen Resort for a delicious BBQ dinner.

Day Three: Wednesday 22 July - Glen Helen Gorge, Redbank Gorge & Ormiston Gorge
Sunrise today will be at Glen Helen Gorge, close to the resort. After experiencing the morning’s golden ray’s
rise over the gorge, you will return to the hotel for breakfast. Around mid morning you will drive to spectacular
Redbank Gorge, which offers fantastic photographic opportunities. Late in the day you’ll capture the sun’s final
glow as it sets over Ormiston Gorge. After dinner, you will need to pack, as this is your last night at Glen Helen.

Day Four: Thursday 23 July - Ellery Creek Crossing & Chambers Pillar
You will check out of Glen Helen Resort early and drive to Ellery Creek Crossing for sunrise photography. Your
bacon and egg breakfast will be served here, then it’s off to Stanley Chasm on the way into Alice Springs for
lunch. Once you’re well-fed and watered, it’s back onto the coach and on to Chambers Pillar, where you will
camp overnight. Sunset photography will be around the local area, then you’ll enjoy a BBQ dinner at your
campsite. Tonight Ken will teach you about night time photography, if you’re interested.

Day Five: Friday 24 July - Uluru
This morning you will photograph another glorious outback sunrise then return to camp for breakfast before
departing for Uluru. (You may want to catch up on some sleep in the coach along the way.) After checking into
the Outback Pioneer Hotel in the afternoon, today’s finale will be photographing the striking colour changes of
Uluru at sunset whilst enjoying nibbles and a glass of wine. Dinner will be waiting for you back at your hotel.

Day Six: Saturday 25 July - Uluru & Kata-Tjuta
Another early rise this morning for a visit to the Uluru sunrise viewing area to see the massive monolith set
alight by sun’s first rays. Enjoy a warming cup of tea or coffee while the colours of Uluru gradually change as
the sun climbs higher in the sky. After breakfast at the hotel, you will have the opportunity for a helicopter
flight. (Please note this is an optional extra, not included in your expedition price.) If you book a helicopter
flight, you’ll be picked up at the hotel at 9.30am and the last charter will be finished by 1pm. If you don’t take
the optional helicopter flight, you will have time to explore and photograph the area around Uluru with Ken.
Once the group is back together, you’ll take your packed lunch onto the coach and spend the rest of the day
exploring the Kata-Tjuta area, then photograph the sunset there. Dinner this evening is back in your hotel.

Day Seven: Sunday 26 July - Kata-Tjuta
You’ll spend your last morning with the group photographing sunrise over the spectacular red domes of The
Olgas (Kata-Tjuta). After breakfast, it’s time to pack your bags and leave the Outback Pioneer Hotel for your
transfer to Ayers Rock Airport and the conclusion of your tour.
