After School Program at
Trailblazers takes place at The Gorge after school and is for students
in Primary to Grade 6.
Children will meet their Trailblazers leaders at Kings County Academy
(KCA) and walk up together to where the sidewalk ends to ﬁnd
adventure and learning in the woods.
Trailblazers combines outdoor education, outdoor recreation,
leadership and play to bring children closer to nature.
The spring session of Trailblazers will run from April 13 to June 18, 2015:
Primary to Gr. 3, co-ed — Monday or Tuesday 2:30 to 4:30 pm
Gr. 4 to 6, co-ed — Wednesday or Thursday 2:30 to 4:30 pm
This program will take place outside, so children must dress for the weather.

Our focus is the outdoors, so the kids will end up in wet and
muddy places, so please dress accordingly with rubber boots and
clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. A waterproof rain suit is a must.
If you will be picking up your child afterwards with a vehicle, cover
the backseat with a blanket!
We have limited space in each session.
Pre-registration is required.

Goals for Trailblazers:
Ÿ to increase children’s knowledge, skills, and
conﬁdence in the outdoors
Ÿ to increase children’s connection to nature
Ÿ to develop judgement, creativity, and problem-solving
skills through safe, healthy risk-taking
Ÿ to have fun in the outdoors in all kinds of weather
Ÿ to encourage families to get outdoors together

What to bring:
Ÿ water bottle, with water... for drinking
Ÿ clothes to suit the weather e.g. hat, a warm sweater,
water-proof raincoat & pants
Ÿ boots or shoes
Healthy snacks will be provided.

Ÿ Animal tracks/pellet counts

We will walk together on the
sidewalk less than 1 km up the
road from KCA to a place where
the sidewalk ends.Then the
adventure begins!

no later than 4:30 pm
Cancellations:
Since Trailblazers is an after-school program, if school is cancelled, so is Trailblazers.
Also, there is no Trailblazers on early-dismissal days.
