WHY CHECKING YOUR CREDIT
REPORT IS IMPORTANT....
A credit report is a summary of your
financial reliability--for the most part,
your history of paying debts and
other bills. In general your credit
report has 4 parts: Identifying
information, Public record
information, Other credit history
information (such as a list of credit
cards or loans), and Inquiries (a
section that lists the parties that
have requested your credit report).
There are 3 major credit bureaus
that operate nationwide: Equifax,
Experian, & TransUnion.
Financial advisors suggest that you
review your credit report once a
year. You may get a FREE copy of
your credit report once a year by
visiting
www.annualcreditreport.com or by
calling (877) 322-8228. Make sure
your credit report accurately reflects
how you have paid your bills. Verify
that all the accounts listed are yours.
If you see an error immediately tell
the credit bureau.
Your credit score is important. In
general, the better your credit score
the better your chances are of
getting a loan with an attractive
interest rate.
