Knights of Columbus Western Metroplex Chapter Newsletter May 2015 Meeting: The next chapter meeting will be held May 27, 2015 at Scott McDonald Council 8512 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in North Richland Hills, TX. The address is 4101 Frawley Dr. North Richland Hills, TX 76180 in the Formation Center dining room. Meal will be served at 6:30-7:30. Meeting will begin at 7:30 P.M. President’s Corner This last weekend was the annual Texas State Knights of Columbus Convention in Houston, TX. It was one of the best conventions conducted, second only to the 2014 convention that the Fort Worth Diocese Knights hosted in far, far east Ft. Worth better known as Dallas. The state council re-elected the same officers for a second term. Our State Deputy is still Terry Simonton whose leadership has been exemplary in the first year. The Chapter hosted a Hospitality Room at the convention and again, Manny Passilas and his crew did a tremendous job of providing food and refreshments to all. Thank you brothers. We need to ask all councils in the Chapter to please donate whatever money you can for that Hospitality Room so the Chapter can be repaid for the money advanced to provide the room and all the food and drinks. The Chapter advanced $2500.00 and to date, we have received less than $500.00 to help defray that cost. If you would, please bring your donation to the next Chapter meeting in May. It would be greatly appreciated. Also, please be thinking about the upcoming elections at the June meeting at Council 759 in Keller. There is a list of candidates in the minutes but all positions are open for nominations. The Secretary’s position is open as SK Mike Broom has been elected as GK for his home council. If you have an important event coming up in the future more than a month, print up a flyer or memo that you can pass out to everyone and then only mention it to the membership and they can read the handout. You can also post your events on the chapter website or contact SK Bill Tillotson, the webmaster, and he will help you get that done. It will reach a much larger audience that way. Please read the April minutes as there is some very important news contained in those minutes about the profit distribution to several good causes.
