Distribution boxes shall be
used in accordance with the
requirements of their
respective rating types with
covers securely closed.
When used outdoors or
subjected to water, usage
shall be as follows:
a) No distribution box shall
be placed in standing water
or in a location likely to
collect water in conditions of
heavy rain or flooding; and
b) Type 1 boxes and boxes
with installed nonwaterproof devices shall be
covered to prevent intrusion
of water, snow, sleet or
slush; and
c) All boxes shall be
elevated a minimum of 150
mm (6ʺ); and
d) Outdoor use boxes shall
be installed such that they
will repel water as designed.
