46th Annual River Road Show Prospectus

46th Annual River Road Show Prospectus
A National Juried Exhibition
December 4, 2015 - December 29, 2015
The River Road Show, sponsored by the Louisiana Art and Artists’ Guild, is currently celebrating
its 46th year. It is an annual national juried exhibition. The primary purpose of this exhibition is to
showcase artists’ work from across the country.
Juror - Diantha York-Ripley
Diantha York-Ripley developed a keen interest in art from an early age. It wasn't until her first art
class at the University of North Florida, however, that she discovered, "These people are speaking
my language." While working on her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree, her technique was honed and
refined. Diantha was also a flight attendant with a major airline, both before school and during,
which broadened her global perspective and influenced her perceptions of the beautiful world in
which we live. She has attended workshops in both the United States and Europe, and is a member
of the Jacksonville Coalition for the Visual Arts, the St. Augustine Art Association, the Jacksonville
Museum of Contemporary Art, The Cummer Gallery of Art and Gardens and The Art Institute of
Chicago. Diantha is married with two adult children and enjoys gardening, cooking, reading and
spoiling her grandchildren and her black German Shepherd, Raven.
Diantha explains, "In my judging philosophy I try to look at all the presented art and include all
mediums. First I need to find the ones that I am drawn to - important factors are of course
composition, color, value and ability to apply techniques chosen. I like it when I am shown a
different way of looking at the world - something fresh, new, and creative. It's exciting to see that
there is a strong art field out there, but it does make judging a challenge. But challenges are good!"
