Duties of Lakeshore Board Positions League President The League President is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Lakeshore Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth. The League President is required to attend all District meetings and shall preside over all Lakeshore League meetings and be responsible for all background checks of volunteers. The League President shall also reside on Lakeshore’s Executive Board. The President shall only vote on Executive Board decisions when a tie vote has been reached by the remaining Executive Board members. Vice President The League Vice President is responsible for working in unison with the League President with special focus on the Babe Ruth division of the League including keeping in direct contact with the Babe Ruth Commissioner, Babe Ruth Player Agent and Babe Ruth Umpire in Chief. The League Vice President shall also assist the League President in all background checks of volunteers. The Vice President shall also represent and/or oversee Lakeshore Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth when the League President is not available to do so. Babe Ruth Commissioner The Babe Ruth Commissioner shall oversee the daily operation of the Lakeshore Babe Ruth program. The BR Commissioner shall work directly with the BR Player Agent and BR Umpire in Chief to insure that the Babe Ruth Division run smoothly. The Babe Ruth Commissioner shall attend all Babe Ruth District and all Lakeshore League meetings. The Babe Ruth Commissioner shall also keep in communication with other area Babe Ruth organizations as needed. The Babe Ruth Commissioner shall also attend all sign up dates. League Secretary The League Secretary shall be responsible for documenting attendance and minutes at each Lakeshore League meeting. Once documented, the League Secretary is responsible for furnishing a typed document of said meeting to the League Information Officer to be distributed to those involved in the Lakeshore CR/BR organization. The League Secretary shall also be responsible for contacting the League President every Saturday and creating a document of weekly events and reminders to be sent to those involved in the Lakeshore CR/BR organization via the League Information Officer. League Treasurer The League Treasurer shall be responsible for handling all funds attained by Lakeshore CR/BR through grants, donations, fundraising, sponsorships, sign up fees and the operation of the Lakeshore concession stand. The League Treasurer shall also oversee the distribution of funds for the purchase of maintaining league operations such as uniforms, equipment, baseballs, softballs, cleaning/maintenance supplies, concessions, etc. The League Treasurer shall also furnish a Treasurer’s Report at each monthly League Meeting and at the beginning and end of each season. T Ball Player Agent The T Ball Player Agent shall be responsible for all player sign ups in the T Ball Division (6U) including recording sign up info to an EXCEL document to be downloaded to the Cal Ripken National Database. The T Ball Player Agent shall also be responsible for the acquisition of coaches for League approval, forming of teams, furnishing uniform information and equipment requests to the League Purchasing Agent, implementation of League expectations, and scheduling of games in the T Ball Division. Baseball Player Agent The Baseball Player Agent shall be responsible for all player sign ups in the Baseball Division (12U) including recording sign up info to an EXCEL document to be downloaded to the Cal Ripken National Database. The Baseball Player Agent shall also be responsible for the forming of teams, furnishing uniform information and equipment requests to the League Purchasing Agent, implementation of League expectations, scheduling of games, communication with the Cal Ripken Umpire in Chief and the selection process for All Star or Travel teams in the Baseball Division. Softball Coordinator The Softball Coordinator shall be responsible for all player sign ups in the Softball Division (18U) including recording sign up info to an EXCEL document to be downloaded to the Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth National Database. The Softball Coordinator shall also be responsible for the forming of teams, furnishing uniform information and equipment requests to the League Purchasing Agent, implementation of League expectations, scheduling of games, communication with the Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Umpire in Chief and the selection process for All Star or Travel teams in the Softball Division. Babe Ruth Player Agent The Babe Ruth Player Agent shall be responsible for all player sign ups in the Babe Ruth Division (18U) including recording sign up info to an EXCEL document to be downloaded to the Babe Ruth National Database. The Babe Ruth Player Agent shall also be responsible for the forming of teams, furnishing uniform information and equipment requests to the League Purchasing Agent, implementation of League expectations, scheduling of games, communication with the Babe Ruth Umpire in Chief and the selection process for All Star or Travel teams in the Babe Ruth Division. Purchasing Agent The League Purchasing Agent shall be responsible for acquiring all goods necessary for the operation of each and every team in the Lakeshore Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth organization. This includes all equipment and uniforms for the regular season, travel teams and All Star teams. The League Purchasing Agent will work directly with each Divisional Purchasing Agent and will keep in constant contact with the League Treasurer. Concessions Manager The League Concessions Manager shall be responsible for the daily operation of the league concession stand. This includes making sure the concession stand is clean and up to health code standards, maintaining food service equipment, the purchasing of goods needed to operate the concession stand, the training and supervision of volunteers working the concession stand, the handling and settling of daily money acquired by the concession stand and coordinating the menu for the end of the year picnic. The Concessions Manager will work directly with the League Treasurer. Sponsorship and Fundraising Committee (minimum of three(3) individuals) The members of the League Sponsorship and Fundraising Committee shall be responsible for acquiring money for the League through contacting sponsors and organizing fundraisers throughout the season. This committee will work directly with the League President, Vice President and Treasurer. Safety Director The League Safety Director shall be responsible for coordinating all safety activities including the examination of all playing equipment, making sure all fields are safe for play and making sure all first aid materials are up to date and ready for use. The League Safety Director will also be responsible for creating and following up on all accident claims filed with Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth National Headquarters. Head of Complex Maintenance The Head of Complex Maintenance shall be responsible for all grounds keeping and general maintenance at the Lakeshore Youth Sports Complex. The Head of Complex Maintenance shall be in charge of all volunteers associated with grounds keeping and maintenance. The Head of Complex Maintenance will maintain all fields and keep them safe for play. The Head of Complex Maintenance is also responsible for ordering all items associated with keeping the fields and complex in acceptable condition and will work directly with the League Treasurer. Umpire in Chief (Cal Ripken Division) The Cal Ripken Umpire in Chief shall be responsible for the training of Cal Ripken Division Umpires. The Cal Ripken Umpire in Chief shall also schedule umpires for all Cal Ripken games. This also includes any games that are re-scheduled. The Cal Ripken Umpire in Chief will work directly with the Cal Ripken Player Agents. Umpire in Chief (Babe Ruth Division) The Babe Ruth Umpire in Chief shall be responsible for the training of Babe Ruth Division Umpires. The Babe Ruth Umpire in Chief shall also schedule umpires for all Babe Ruth games. This also includes any games that are re-scheduled. The Babe Ruth Umpire in Chief will work directly with the Babe Ruth Player Agent and Commissioner. Information Officer The League Information Officer shall be responsible for maintaining the Lakeshore league website, Facebook and Twitter accounts. The League Information Officer shall also be responsible for distributing league information to Lakeshore Members via email. This includes meeting minutes, sign up dates, fundraisers, important league dates and cancellations of games or other events. The League Information Officer will work directly with the League President, Vice President, Secretary, Player Agents, Concessions Manager, Sponsorship and Fundraising Committee, Safety Director, Head of Complex Maintenance and Umpire in Chiefs.
