Dead Technology Memoirs is a series of three 15-minute, interlocking scenes about murder,
obsession, illegal recordings, lies, time travel and pop music. Blackly comic, Pinter-esque and
very tense, these little mysteries are about people and some bad things that happen.
The first of these scenes, Diabolical was recently performed at the Melbourne and Sydney
Short + Sweet Festivals. It won the Best Actor, Best New Work and Best New Writing Awards in
Melbourne.
The other two scenes, Theoretical and Prototypical are making their theatrical debut.

James Hazelden
James is a writer, musician, comedian, podcaster and director. There’s a proper bio on his website
jameshazelden.com so you can go there if you’d like to know more about him. And there are free
comics and music there. He’s also in a band called Man Bites God. They have a podcast called
Theatre of the World and it’s on iTunes, as are their albums, and James’ solo music. James has
also written screenplays for short films. For such a vain man, James finds it hard to write about
himself. Well… goodbye.
Chris Saxton
Chris is the Artistic Director of Theatre Slam and an ensemble member of In Company Theatre
Australia. He studied Theatre Performance at the University of Ballarat, Arts Academy. His
directing credits include Shadows of Angels (Jerky Cat), Loose Ends as A.D (Doppelganger
Theatre Company) and Room with a Door (In Company Theatre’s Off Cuts). As an actor Chris
had performed in The Work of Wonder (Red Stitch), The Threepenny Opera (Redroom Theatre), At
Santucci’s (Independent Co-op), Hothouse (Fitzroy Play Writer’s Festival) and Birthday (FLIP Stage
and Screen). He has participated in play readings for 9minds and Chapel Off Chapel’s Emerging
Playwrights. He has also worked in and on various short films, commercials, music clips and
corporate training videos.
Nicholas Roy
Nicholas Roy is a Melbourne-based musician. He has played to thousands of people across
Australia, appeared on national television and had his music featured on television, in feature films
and commercials. This is Nicholas’ first foray onto stage without music in a long time.
Chris Tomkins
Chris Tomkins began his Melbourne Comedy Festival career in 1993 performing with the sketch
comedy group the Gorskys (also known as the Toasted Marshmallows). He drums with Man Bites
God (who also create the podcast Theatre of the World) and makes films that have been in some
film festivals.
Jacob Pruden
These are often done in the third person, but I’m doing mine in the first.
I’ve acted in sundry plays, including Till Divorce for Thorny Devil Theatre, Wake in Fright at
the Adelaide Fringe, and Love Taps for La Mama’s Autumn season. I’m a member of new and
scintillating theatre company TBC Theatre, and performed in its premier work, Loveplay. I’ve done
some Meisner training, which taught me a bit, but not as much as simply getting up and acting.
I’m a lawyer on the side. It is a pleasure working with these fine men. I hope you derive some
enjoyment from this original work.

Mark Woodward
After touring the world fronting indie-rock outfit The Weekend People, playing bass for Enola Fall
and as one-third of satirical rock juggernaut Man Bites God - and consequently the group’s Theatre
of The World podcast - Mark’s first foray into theatre after a decade long absence comes on
the heels of his best actor nomination at the Austin Indie Flix festival for his role in the short film
Logistics. Frank Handrum
Frank is an accomplished and recognised actor in Melbourne’s Independent Theatre and Film
Community. He has recently moved into television, where you may have seen him naked on
Neighbours, and as one of Kylie’s backup dancers at the Logies. This year he is also starring in two
science-fiction feature films.
La Mama’s Committee of Management, staff and its wider theatrical community acknowledge
that our theatre is on traditional Wurundjeri land.
