SMART START PROGRAM
Reach your health and wellness goals the SMART way!
SMART Start is a free exercise program for new and current Y members age 12 and
older who need extra support in reaching their health and wellness goals. In SMART
Start, you’ll work with a Y personal trainer who will provide the individualized attention
and motivation needed to get you started and keep you on track.
During this eight-week program you will have six appointments with a Y personal
trainer. Together you will:
• Create SMART goals.
(SMART = Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound).
• Set your targeted heart rate.
• Review the basics of nutrition.
• Learn how to safely and effectively increase the intensity of your workout.
Create a structured, sensible and personalized fitness plan that you can continue to
use and build on after the completion of the program.
SMART Start is offered at all Lancaster Family YMCA branches. Program registration is

POTENTIAL COMES TO LIFE
AT THE Y!
2015 ANNUAL CAMPAIGN
Children deserve a great head start.
Nearly 30% of Lancaster County children are not ready for kindergarten.
Wellness can be restored.
Every year, more than 13,000 people in Lancaster County are diagnosed with cancer.
Learning doesn’t take a vacation.
More than 18,000 children in Lancaster County are living in poverty with few
opportunities to benefit from valuable summer learning programs.
At the Y, we believe that by working
together to invest in kids, families and
adults we can bring potential to life for
our entire community. Through the Y’s
school readiness initiatives, cancer
recovery classes and summer camp
programs, we’re tackling critical issues in
Lancaster County. We’re working to ensure
that cancer survivors can regain wellness
and live life to the fullest, and all children,
regardless of their economic situation,
have access to programs that will help
them learn, grow and thrive.
With your generous support, we can
expand our efforts to address these
pressing community needs while
continuing to provide vital health and
wellness services to 19,000 residents
across Lancaster County.
Help potential come
to life at the Y!
