A Message From Mrs Best
Today is the day we sadly say goodbye to Mrs Smith. It is a sad time for Landulph
but an exciting step for Mrs Smith to take within her career at Braddock School.
The children have made such lovely poems and cards that I know Mrs Smith will
treasure for some time and I know that she will miss us all.
Mrs Smith joined Landulph in 2004 as a temporary teacher. We nearly lost her in
2005, but luckily a teaching position became available and her permanent post
began. She has taught in both Class 1 and Class 2 throughout her time here as
well as having her two lovely children Josh and Ellie. She has led a variety of
subjects including science, maths and PE. Mrs Smith has certainly got Landulph on
the map with all the sporting competitions and tournaments that we have attended
and done so well in. Mrs Smith will be remembered for her enthusiasm, sense of
humour and most importantly, her ability to have a go at anything! The day out at
Siblyback certainly will remain on Landulph’s school calendar for years to come. I
am sure you will join me in wishing Mrs Smith all the very best of luck for the
future and hope that she will remain in touch with us all.
A big well done to all the children in Year 2 who completed their Key Stage 1 SATs
this week. They have made us all proud with how hard they have tried and how
well they have done. The results for both these assessments along with the Key
Stage 2 SATs will be sent out to you as parents mid July. We have one final lot of
official assessments to take place after half term in the week beginning 15th June
which is the Phonics Screening for all children in Year 1 and some children in Year
2.
Last week, we were moderated by a specialist early years teacher who met with
Miss Neeves to moderate the teacher assessments and provision provided for the
foundation children in Class 1. The teacher was so impressed with the classroom
set up, the child initiated provision both inside and outside of the classroom and
gave exceptional feedback for how excellent Class 1 is! Well done to Miss Neeves
and Mrs Truscott as well as the rest of the Landulph team.
Well done to the girls football team who have represented us for two football
games recently. We played Sir Robert Geffery’s School last week and drew 1-1.
We then went over to Burraton on Tuesday and played against Sir Robert Geffery’s
drawing again and then played Burraton where we won 4-0. Well done to the team
and thank you to both Mrs Smith and the parents for helping the children get over
to Burraton for the match.
Thank you for your continued support this half term. You should have received the
results from the questionnaire this week. Do let us know if your copy has gone
astray and please do get in touch if you would like to discuss anything that was not
covered in the feedback.
We wish you all a great half term and look forward to seeing you all back again on
Tuesday 2nd June following our inset day on the Monday.
Congratulations to the Class Cup winners:
Class 1 - Miya & Miss Neeves, Class 2 - All of Class 2 and in Class 3—Olivia L
Well done to those who received this week’s lunchtime awards:
Class 1 - Rueben, Class 2 - Kornelia and in Class 3 – Morgan
Football Certificates for the most penalty shoot outs awarded to Thomas Y and
Ryan.
The half term award this term has been given to Daisy, well done!
Have a lovely half term.
