There are several events planned for May to July - a variety of musical performances, talks and tours, and classes for adults and children. This concert includes works by Schubert, Chopin, and Brahms. The concert is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Teddington and The Hamptons in SOS!Special Education Needs. Opera in Cameo Commedia Productions Saturday, 16 May at 7.30pm Tickets £20 and £16 concessions Following the success of The Magic Flute, Commedia returns to present cameo scenes from your favourite operas. Excerpts from La Traviata, Madam Butterfly, Carmen, Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro will be fully staged, featuring a cast of professional singers and accompanied by The Virtual Reality Orchestra. Sinatra – The Movie Years Robert Habermann Saturday, 23 May at 7.30pm Tickets: £12.50 and £10 concessions The story of Ol’Blue Eyes’ film career featuring the great songs from the films. Robert Habermann tells the story and sings the songs including The Lady is a Tramp, Ol’ Man River, You’re Man River, You’re Sensational and Sensational the Oscar winning All the Way, plus many more. It will be an evening of the songs we all know and love. Kenfig Hill & District Male Voice Choir Saturday, 30 May at 7.00pm Tickets: £15 Choral singing in Kenfig Hill can be traced back as far as 1890. Now internationally renowned, this premier Welsh Choir has performed in many European countries. The choir has performed at Normansfield Theatre twice and both concerts have sold out so book your tickets early! All Proceeds from this concert are going to the Down’s Syndrome Association. Teddington Summer Music Festival Saturday, 20 June Summer Idyll at 7.30pm Sunday 21 June 3 Chamber Music Gems at 7.30pm Tickets: £12 and £10 concessions for both nights Summer Idyll Saturday, 20 June at 7.30pm The LONDON DVORAK ENSEMBLE features some of London’s leading chamber musicians. Under their conductor Tom Higgins, they will focus around two major works from the 19th century: Wagner’s ‘Sigfried Idyll’ and Spohr’s tuneful Nonet. It also includes ‘Patorale d’Ete’ by Honnegger and Dvorak’s Bagatelles Op 47, which is full of the spirit of Czech folk music. 3 Chamber Music Gems Let’s Fall in Love Marble Hill Singers Saturday, 27 June at 7.30pm Tickets: £10 The Marble Hill Singers are a locally based chamber choir formed in 1989. They perform in Twickenham and hold regular concerts. They have also given ten critically acclaimed overseas concerts in Europe and perform regularly at our theatre. This year’s performance is called Let’s Fall in Love – it will be an evening of shamelessly romantic songs including Gershwin’s The Man I love; Bernstein’s Tonight and Holst’s I Love my Love and many more. The musical conductor is Robert MingaySmith. North Kingston Choir Saturday, 4 July Tickets: tbc North Kingston Choir will be returning to Normansfield Theatre with a concert in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society. Sunday, 21 June at 7.30pm The Maxwell String Quartet is highly regarded as one of the most talented and committed of today’s young ensembles, they will perform two outstanding works from the repertoire. Hayn’s Op 76 No 5 and Quartet in A minor, Op 804. Tony Lamb joins in a performance of one of Brahm’s greatest chamber works, the mellow and autumnal Quintet in B minor Op 115. Summer Soirée - Anything goes….. Places are limited and must be prebooked.on s will be a very active week. Classes at the Langdon Down Centre Adult Classes A Taste of Opera Wednesdays 7.15pm-9.15pm Next course starts on 22 April. Now in its third year, Glyn Paul will take the class on a lighthearted, guided tour through the development of opera, illustrated with a variety of recent and historic audio and video recordings. Seasons Art Class The Life of James Henry Pullen Saturday, 27 June from 10am to 11am Tickets: £5 (includes light refreshments) A talk about the life of James Henry Pullen (1835 – 1916), a resident of the Royal Earlswood Asylum who had the condition of savant syndrome. Pullen created model ships. This one hour talk looks at Pullen’s extraordinary life with a presentation, short film and a guided tour. Learning Disability Week June 2015 On Friday, 20 June, the Langdon down Centre will be holding a day of activities which everyone is welcome to attend. Full details will be available on our website.
