Homebrew competition
Paris Beer Week 2015
Submission Period
Registration is open as of February 1st, 2015.
All entries, accompanied by a check for the registration fee, must
be received by May 1st, 2015.
Participants
Any person, major of age, and not currently practicing as a professional brewer, may enter the competition, with the exception of jury
members.
Should a professional brewer wish to enter the competition as a
home brewer using home brewing equipment, he or she must inform the competition organizers ahead of time:

Entries received may not be brewed by a third party (i.e. brew­-on-­
premises establishments). Participants must submit their own entries,
or risk being disqualified from the competition.
How to enter
Registration is a two-step process:
1. Registration by email
2. Entry validation upon reception of beer samples, accompanied
by the registration fee
Registrations are only accepted via the following address:
[email protected]. All participants must send an
email clearly stating the following information:
- Last name
­- First name
­- Address
­- Telephone number
­- Email address
­- Name and brief description of your beer
- A photo of yourself brewing with your equipment
The brief discription of your beer (body, bitterness, color, alcohol
content and style, i­f applicable­) will only be used to organise
tasting sessions, and will not be communicated to the jury.
By registering, you agree to read and adhere to the competition
rules and regulations. If you do not, you will be disqualified and the
registration fee will not be reimbursed.
In response to your registration email, a participation number will
be allotted to your entry. This number must be indicated on the
bottles that you submit. Remove all labels from bottles, except for
your participation number, which should be written in black ink
on white paper, at least 5cm x 5cm in size. Write this number on the
back of your registration fee check.
BeerS entered: Number, Style, Sample Quantity
For the 2015 edition of the Paris Beer Week Homebrew Competition,
only one beer may be entered per participant. The recipe for the
beer must never have been commercialized.
All beer styles are accepted. Participants are asked to provide a
brief description of the beer in their registration mail (see “How to Enter”). Each participant must send their beer samples in one of these
three formats:
- 6 (six) x 33cl bottles, OR
- 3 (three) x 75cl bottles, OR
- 4 (four) x 50cl bottles.
Beers brewed at a brew­-on-­premises establishment, wherein ingredients, professional equipment, and advice are provided, are not
accepted.
ENTRY Drop off or Shipping
Entries must be either dropped off at one of the competition partner
locations, or sent to the following address. If an entry is sent through
the post, all shipping fees and packing precautions are the participant’s responsibility. The organizers of the competition cannot be
held responsible for any shipping accidents, such as broken bottles.

Note : Only entries accompanied by a check for the registration fee
(made out to “Bières et Papilles”) will be accepted.
Registration Fee
A registration fee of 10 euros is required of each participant. The fee
must be paid by check made out to “Bières et Papilles”. Your participation number should be marked on the back of your check.
The registration fee entitles the participant to a 10 euro reduction
off the price of a ticket for the Grand Final of the Paris Beer Week on
May 30 (tickets on sale online only).
Jury
Appointed in advance by the competition organizers, the jury is
made up of qualified individuals with ties to the world of craft beer.
Jury breakdown will adhere as closely as possible to:
- 20% beer store owners
- 20% bar owners
- 20% craft beer importers
- 20% professional brewers
- 20% home brewers
Prizes
Prizes will be granted to the brewers with winning beers. The jury’s
selection will be unveiled during the awards ceremony, which will
take place during the Grand Final on May 30, 2015.
Participants are not required to be present at the awards ceremony.
In case of absence, brewers who have won an award will be contacted by the contest organizers Paris Beer Week.
Failure to respect competition rules and regulations
In any case of nonconformity to the competition rules and regulations, the competition organizers reserve the right to disqualify a
participant’s entry, without the possibility of appeal. In the case of
disqualification following a failure to respect competition rules and
regulations, the registration fee will not be reimbursed.
Publication of Contest Results and Usage of Information
Information provided by participants will be used by the contest
organizers principally in regard to the publication of the list of prize
winners and its diffusion on the Paris Beer Week website.
In application of article 39 and conforming to the modified law
of January 6 1978, all participants have the right to access and
modify personal information by sending an email to the contest organizers at: [email protected].
The photo provided by the participants in the registration email will
be used as part of a visual communication tool featuring the home
brewers, the goal being to represent the profusion and dynamism of
home brewing, and to help enrich the Paris Beer Week. By accepting
the contest regulations, you authorize the organizers of the Paris Beer
Week to use and to diffuse this image with this goal in mind.
