Laser Coast Championships
October 17th & 18th 2015
Port Kembla Sailing Club invites all registered Laser sailors and their supporters to
participate in the upcoming Laser Coast Championships to be hosted by the PKSC
and sailed on Lake Illawarra.
Where is Port Kembla Sailing Club?
Port Kembla Sailing Club is located on Northcliffe Drive, Berkeley, on the northern
side of Lake Illawarra, in Tuggerah Bay. See attached map or visit:
www.pksc.com.au
Club Facilities
Port Kembla Sailing Club will be open from midday, Friday 16th October 2015. The
club will have (limited) designated areas for camping on the club grounds at a cost
of $30/site a night.
All campsites are unpowered; however the Sailing club will be open for the 2 days
if you should require power for battery re-charging.
The clubhouse will also be available for (a limited number of) individuals with
swags to bunk down for the night at a cost of $15.
The club has a large grassy area and there will be people on site to assist with
camping, the removal of boats and parking. Cost of parking is free.
Port Kembla Sailing Club has a great fully licensed canteen and will be serving
food and drinks throughout the regatta. A variety of food will be available
including wraps, hamburgers, sandwiches, sausage rolls, pies etc. A café will also
provide tea, coffee, soft drinks, cakes & muffins etc. On the Saturday night, dinner
will be available at the club for a very reasonable cost.
The club has toilets, showers /change rooms and a wash down area for boats that
can be accessed throughout the regatta.
If you are intending to camp at the club or bunk in the clubhouse, please
indicate this on your entry form. As camping areas are limited (depending on
the number of boat entries), it will be strictly available on a first-in-first-serve
basis.
Race area
The racing area for the Lasers will be positioned on the water out the front of the
club with a lot of vantage points to watch the racing from the club grounds and
surrounding vantage points and cycle ways.
For officials and spectator boats the club has 2 double boat ramps East and West
of the club.
Note: As there are no re-fuelling stations on the lake, support boats will have to
obtain fuel from nearby Service Station at Berkeley.
Briefings and Official notice boards
All briefings, announcements and official notice boards will be located within the
clubhouse.
Storage of Boats
Competitors are able to leave boats on the club grounds over the regatta and are
encouraged to make them safe from being damaged and with no valuable items
left in them. PKSC will also have people staying onsite over the regatta should you
need further assistance and to help with security of the club and boats.
Maintenance
The Yachtshop is located 2kms to the east of the club and it will be open
throughout the regatta should you need any items for repairs or accessories for
sailing.
