Lasting Adventures Internship Program 2015 Lasting Adventures, Inc., the leader in adventure based programming in the Yosemite backcountry is recruiting two Interns for the 2015 season. Lasting Adventures has grown rapidly the past few years and now, in addition to running one of the, “best backpacking programs in the West” (Outside Magazine, April 2014); Lasting Adventures also operates one of the premier Guide Services within Yosemite National Park. The Lasting Adventures Internship Program is designed to provide current and aspiring outdoor leaders with a greater understanding of the Lasting Adventures philosophy and operations, while developing technical, interpersonal, risk management, and educational skills. Interns will support all aspects of our growing non-profit while contributing to the general logistical support of our programs. The Internship Program will be a 5-month position running May through September 2015. (Shorter time periods may be considered.) During this time period, interns primary responsibility will be as a Logistical Support Intern where he/she will help with food and gear planning, packing, resupply, pack out, de-issue, driving, gear-care and maintenance, and general prep-room support at our Guide House in Groveland, CA. Interns will also gain experience as a Field Intern where he/she will be part of our instructional team on our youth adventure programs or as an assistant on our Guide Service backpacking and/or day trips in Yosemite. Interns will be included in our Guide Trainings that occur in either May or June. They will be considered members of our staff. Additional training and skills development will occur intermediately throughout the summer to support professional development. Compensation includes boarding at our guide house throughout May-September, meals while on trips, and a stipend of at least $400 per month for the summer season (MaySeptember). Interns also receive access to mentorship from experienced staff and pro deal benefits. After or during the internship, promotions and future positions with Lasting Adventures can occur. Many current guide staff began as Junior Guides and/or Interns. Preferred Criteria: 18 years or older, 21 years is preferred Clean driving record and a reliable car. Solid communication and leadership skills. Strong organizational skills Backpacking experience Wilderness First Aid (First Responder preferred) and CPR certified or planning to complete by May 2015.
