The Workshop will consider the factors that have contributed to what is often regarded as a contemporary identity
crisis for legal theory, and reflect on the resources available elsewhere from legal history, comparative law, the study
of transnational law, and the perspectives of pluralism, in accounting for the crisis and also in contributing to possible
directions for legal theory.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Maksymilian (Maks) Del Mar is Senior Lecturer in Law and Philosophy, Director of
the Centre for Law and Society in a Global Context (CLSGC) and Academic Fellow
(2013-2016) of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple.
Dr Del Mar’s research interests include: 1) transnational legal theory; 2) legal
reasoning; 3) the history, methodology and metatheory of ideas about law and
society; 4) legal education, especially the role of the arts and humanities in law
schools; and 5) legal and social normativity.
