NUS-Priority Research In Medical Education Effect of Deliberate Reflection on Diagnostic Performance Accurate diagnosis is a pivotal clinical expertise. However, there is no agreement on the best way to improve diagnostic performance. Emerging evidence from experiments studies comparing different strategies to improve diagnostic expertise will be reviewed. We will also describe a collaborative program between NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, ITE and Erasmus University in the Netherlands which investigates the short and long term effects of deliberate reflection on diagnostic performance in medical residents by using simulated clinical protocols on representative diagnostic problems developed and validated in the local setting.
