making sure that you, your family and your community have the resources
and support needed to learn, grow and thrive. We do that by encouraging
good health and fostering connections with new and old friends through
sports, fun programs and shared interests.
AREAS OF FOCUS
The Y offers programs, services and initiatives focused on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, according to the unique

Starting in the Fall of 2013, Teen Achievers will be split into 2 separate

thinkers, skilled in working with groups and committed to a consensus

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Develop—Cultivate—Change
BACK OUR YOUTH
VOLUNTEERING @ THE Y
With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility,
Y volunteers give men, women and children of all ages and from all walks
of life the resources and support they need to be healthy, confident,
connected and secure. The Y is built on the strength of volunteers. You
can volunteer to be a youth sports coach, referee, instructor, to help in
the office or in the weight room. Our Y is governed by an all-volunteer
Board of Directors, and every year we need many volunteers to help raise
funds during our annual Back Our Youth campaign. Every spring & fall we
hold volunteer work-days out at Camp Hoffman to help build new trails
and construct new camp structures. If you or a group you are a part of is
interested in setting up a volunteer work day at Camp Hoffman or
volunteer in any other area at the YMCA, please let us know!

TEEN VOLUNTEERS
The Lawton Family YMCA has a great group of Teen Achievers who are
frequently looking for new volunteer opportunities. Our group of Junior
High through High School students are available for almost any volunteer
job your organization may have & love spending their Saturday mornings
and afternoons helping out the community in any possible way. If you
have a project they can assist you with, contact our Teen Program
Coordinator, Amanda Saltiel, at 512-7237. Interested in joining our Teen
Achievers program? Check out page 4 or visit our website for more
information.

ONGOING CONSTRUCTION
Over the past few years the Lawton Family YMCA has been raising money
for the “No Limits” capital campaign to expand the building and add some
much needed program space inside the Y. Due to the new construction,
parking has been a little congested, please allow extra time for parking if
you are planning on attending some of our more popular programs. We
promise the hassle will be worth it once our new gym and fitness center
open in the Fall. Some areas will have limited space available and at times
some programs may be moved or rescheduled altogether. We will do our
absolute best to alert all Y Members and Program Members to any upcoming event or program changes, but we do ask for your patience and understanding as we undergo this exciting new addition at the Lawton Family
YMCA. If you would like to see pictures of our most recent updates as
well as our upcoming construction schedule, check our website!

There is no other nonprofit quite like the Y. Be a part of a cause
committed to moving people and communities forward. As the leading
nonprofit for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility,
the Y works side-by-side with our neighbors every day to make sure that
everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to
learn, grow and thrive. To do our important work, the Y relies on support
from members, donors, volunteers and community leaders. The Lawton
Family YMCA’s Back Our Youth campaign is conducted annually to sustain
programs that are at the center of our mission. The actual solicitation
and organization is by Y volunteers giving of their time, treasure and
talents to assist the workings of our community’s Y. Your support goes
directly to programs and not to pay campaigners. The programs
supported are those which build character but cost money. Many
programs would not be at the level we sustain today, without your
support. Ask the membership director to add any amount you choose to
donate to your monthly bank drafted membership dues. Just imagine how
many programs those funds could support. Your donation can change a
child’s life!
