AUB CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION 2015 NGO 29,30 April 2015 | WEST HALL-AUB, BEIRUT AUB 2015 | NGO CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION 29,30 April 2015 | WEST HALL-AUB, BEIRUT BACKGROUND The Center for Civic Engagement and Community Service (CCECS) mobilizes resources on campus and works closely with local, regional, and international partners and stakeholders to provide opportunities for AUB students, faculty, and staff to respond to social and civic needs. Accordingly, the Center’s mission is to develop a culture of volunteerism and civic engagement on AUB campus. Since 2009, CCECS has successfully organized the Volunteering Fair with the aim to fulfill its mission and connect the AUB community with the NGOs across Lebanon involved in civic engagement activities. The event included training workshops, donation drives, awareness campaigns, competitions and screening of documentaries, and debates that were followed by discussions and Q&A with the concerned stakeholders. A keynote speaker inaugurates the event with a speech addressing an underlying theme of the conference. Previous speakers included Reverend Gregoire Haddad, Dr. Ziad Baroud, Ms. Zeina Daccache, Mr. Ziad Rahbani and Ms. May El Khalil. Last year, CCECS organized its first NGO Conference titled “Mind Your Business, Heart Your Community” that focused on sustainability of NGOs and social entrepreneurship. Having realized the significance of bridging both activities namely, Volunteering Fair and the NGO Conference, CCECS will be organizing the AUB 2015 | NGO Conference and Exhibition More specifically, CCECS envisions this event to be a hub for AUB faculty, students, staff, and professionals in the NGO community to meet, share best practices and lessons learned, support new ideas and projects, equip participants with tools and skills, and highlight on challenges facing Lebanon and the region. AUB 2015 | NGO CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION 29,30 April 2015 | WEST HALL-AUB, BEIRUT AUB 2015 NGO CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION One of the conference’s key features is that it brings together over 100 local and international NGOs for a two-full day exhibition to promote their efforts, raise awareness on civic issues, and network with other civic groups. With this set up, AUB students get the chance to connect with local community organizations, learn more about prospective volunteering opportunities, and exchange views related to their field of expertise. In parallel, CCECS will host 8 panel discussions featuring public figures, activists, policy makers, experts (public and private sectors), academics, and civil society representatives, as speakers and moderators. This year’s event is in partnership with The United Nations Information Centre in Beirut (UNIC-Beirut) and with the collaboration of JCI Lebanon, Loyac, Aie Serve and Jannat Bladi.
