Prayer of Invocation
Holy Spirit, Creator, in the beginning you moved over the waters. From your breath all creation

The Call to Confession
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse
us from all unrighteousness.
Prayer of Confession: Almighty God, you poured your Spirit upon gathered
disciples, creating bold tongues, open ears, and a new community of faith. We confess
that we hold back the force of your Spirit among us. We do not listen for your word of
grace, speak the good news of your love, or live as a people made one in Christ. Have
mercy on us, O God. Transform our timid lives by the power of your Spirit, and fill us with
a flaming desire to be your faithful people, doing your will for the sake of Jesus Christ our
Lord.

Jonathan Phillips and Barbara Sofia. The Pentecost prayers are Takeshi Aoki (Japanese), Eulalia
Cabrera (Spanish), Soon Hee Earm (Korean) and Judith Nyirongo (Chichewa).
We welcome guest musician Misha Joseph on guitar this morning. Misha's cross-genre sensibility
has shaped his musical story by inspiring jazz, funk, and Brazilian colors into his sound. He brings
with him music from South America featuring compositions by Piazzolla and Jobim.

Children are always welcome during worship. If you would like child care for your baby or preschooler, it is available in the room adjacent to the rear hallway. Kindergartners to fourth graders are
to remain in worship through the children’s sermon, then are welcome to go to a supervised activity
period. Parents may also sit with restless children in the Tower room, which is located off the rear of
the sanctuary. Sunday School and Adult Classes meet from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.

PENTECOST OFFERING: The offering for Pentecost will be divided between the PCUSA Pentecost
Offering for Children and Youth at risk (75%), and 25% will go to Parity, which works to create open
spaces for LGBTQ people to find healing and harmony in the context of faith. (Formerly known as
Presbyterian Welcome.) Please use the envelope in your bulletin.

HIKING/WALKING TRIP AT
GREENBROOK SANCTUARY
Next Sunday, May 31st, the Membership & Outreach Committee is sponsoring a hiking trip at
Greenbrook Sanctuary, which is a 165 acre woodland preserve on top of the Palisades in Tenafly and
Alpine, NJ. We will have lunch (bring your own, or order out with us) after worship and then carpool
to Greenbrook Sanctuary. If you are interested and need more information, please speak with Nancy
Salvati. There will be a sign-up sheet in the entry room. Young children are welcome, but will hike an
alternate route with their parents. This hike is not appropriate for children in strollers.
