ELECTRONICS RECYCLING State law requires recycling of the following electronics: Televisions, monitors, printers, computers, electronic keyboards, facsimile machines, videocassette recorders, portable digital music players, digital video disc players, video game consoles, small scale servers, scanners, electronic mice, digital converter boxes, cable receivers, satellite receivers and digital video disc recorders. (Illinois Electronics Products Recycling and Reuse Act) The items above WILL NOT BE PICKED UP curbside or with our bulky waste collection. The City of LeRoy will host an electronics recycling program approximately 2 times per year. The dates and times will be well publicized in advance. Electronics may not be set out to the curb or dumped on other’s people’s property or in the trash receptacles. CITATIONS WILL BE ISSUED. Year Round Electronics Recycling Option: McLean County Residents: Normal Public Works Facility - 1st entrance after the building, follow yellow signs 1301 Warriner Street Normal, IL 61761 See the following page for hours and details. Other sites in the Bloomington-Normal area offer electronics recycling, which may result in reuse of workable items or cash/store credit for limited items. Self-Service Electronic Recycling Hours at Normal Recycling Site: There may not be anyone to help you unload your electronics so we recommend you bring someone to help if you have electronics that are too heavy for you to handle. Regular Hours (Labor Day - Memorial Day) Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 2:30 pm 1st Saturday of each month, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Summer Hours (Memorial Day - Labor Day) Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 1:30 pm 1st Saturday of each month, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Accepted Items at Normal Recycling Site: All types of radios Copiers Microwaves Televisions Blenders Curling irons Monitors Toaster ovens Cameras Cash registers Fax machines Hair dryers Peripherals Phone systems Scanners Small appliances Computers Laptops Printers VCRs The following items are also accepted: Most forms of electronic media and their cases (diskettes, zip disks, CDs, CD-Rs, CDRWs, DVDs, game cartridges, DAT, DLT, Beta or Digi beta and virtually all other type of computer tapes)- not audio or video tapes All forms of printer cartridges, including both inkjet and toner All types of cell phones, pagers, PDAs and their chargers, cables and headset accessories. Please note that cell phones and chargers can be dropped off at the Police department for re-use by victims of domestic violence.
