WHY STUDY THE PROGRAMME?
The graduate of the Master study programme of
Pedagogy of Theatre Art is able:
• to plan and project content of theatre education in
various types of formal and non-formal children, youth and
adult educational institutions;
• to teach, manage, consult, advice, provide feedback
to children, youth or adults, who learn theatre in general
education schools, non-formal children education schools,
higher education and culture institutions;
• to research, evaluate and assess the quality of
theatre education in education and culture institutions of
various types and to introduce measures for its improvement,
to present problems of and trends in education to the society
in a generalised way;
• to collaborate with pedagogical or academic
communities of various educational institutions striving for
introduction of innovations into cultural artistic activities.
WHAT WILL YOU STUDY AND ACHIEVE?
Students study subjects related to theatre (Studio of
Contemporary Theatre Art, Development of Modern
Lithuanian Theatre, Visual Art in Lithuanian Theatre), theatre
education (Theories and Practice of Theatre Education,
Psychodrama in Education,), arts education (Trends in
Change of Arts Education, Cultural Studies and Education,
Development of Ideas in Arts Education, Inclusive Arts
Education, Management of Educational and Arts Activities,
Contemporary Pedagogy and Andragogy), theatre education
research (Methodology of Arts Education Research, Theatre
education research seminar, final research work).
The attained qualification allows the graduate to be
employed as a theatre teacher in general education and nonformal (arts, music) schools and cultural institutions as well
as an educator and scholar in higher education schools, the
graduate is competent to establish private theatre studio.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND
SELECTION CRITERIA
The individuals with first cycle university education in
theatre, film or theatre pedagogy studies may be admitted to
the Master Study Programme of Pedagogy of Theatre Art.
The competitive mark consists of evaluation of the fundamentals in the study area and specialist education in the
study field (theatre expression, theatre didactics/teaching,
history and theory of theatre) and the average of mark of the
final examination and/or the Bachelor paper. The entrants
need to have level B1 of English language.

The Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences (LEU)
is the most important teacher training institution in Lithuania.
The primary goal of the University is to educate a highly
qualified specialist in the chosen field of science and a professional teacher who is able to operate in the fast-changing society successfully, is aware of the abilities and skills
obtained and professionally active in different type institutions of education either in national or international contexts.

Thirty nine first cycle study programmes are offered in ten
study fields such as Pedagogy, Psychology, Philology,
History, Philosophy, Economics and Business Management
and Technologies.
The graduates are awarded a respective undergraduate
degree and a teacher’s professional qualification. Thirty two
second cycle study programmes are offered in twenty-four
study fields such as Education, Pedagogy, Psychology,
Social work, Sociology, Linguistics, Art studies, History,
Information technologies, Mathematics, and graduates
are awarded a Master’s degree.
Four third cycle programmes are offered in four
fields and graduates are awarded a PhD. In addition,
the University offers non-degree study programmes for
qualification development and retraining. The studies are
organized in different forms, i.e. full-time and part-time.
Studies at the University are based on the newest
scientific knowledge and principles of sustainable development; the quality of the study programmes is continuously
improved and study accessibility and internationalization
is constantly developed.
