APRIL 2015 Gazette est. 1910 restored 2001 Historic Dayton, Washington Dinner & Movie Night Fun Returns Back in 2011, a lovely little film set in India came to our theater. We knew it would be a hit, with stars like Maggie Smith and Judi Dench, and we decided to tackle a new cuisine, serving an Indian feast the evening the movie opened. Needless to say, our board of directors were more than up to the task, and the dinner was a huge success. The moment rumors of a sequel started to swirl, we got busy planning a follow-up of our own. The Second Best Marigold Hotel opens at the Liberty on Friday, April 17. For those lucky enough to get tickets, dinner will be served that night at 6:00, with the doors opening at 5:30. Critics have been extolling this new film, many saying that it brings back what audiences loved from the first movie, along with several delightful additions. It just so happens that is exactly what we promise with our dinner menu. Tickets to both the dinner and movie are $25. They can be purchased online at www.libertytheater.org, and at the box office. Just don’t wait to get yours; they will sell out soon. Forum Offers Great Insights into Caring for Historic Buildings If you have an historic building, whether it’s a home or a store front, you know it takes effort to optimize that structure’s life span. What you may not know is the specifics on how to care for your investment, or the benefits that are out there to help you safeguard it’s future. The Dayton Historic Preservation Commission and Dayton Development Task Force have teamed up with the Department of Archaeology & Historic Preservation to sponsor an evening at the Liberty with Washington State Historical Architect Nick Vann, AIA. He and other preservationists will discuss practical maintenance, tax incentives and the Dayton Facade Grant Program. You can even schedule a one on one with Vann, where he can walk through your building with you, providing specific suggestions and recommendations.
